It had been the longest hour of my entire life, and not even battle gave me the amount of anxiety I felt at that moment. However, after an hour of waiting anxiously, the doctor finally came to announce to us the news of my new son.
"Can I see him?" Were the first words I said the moment I received the news. My voice had come out rough, barely above a whisper, but the doctor nodded with a reassuring smile.
He led the way, and I followed him down the corridor, my mind racing with thoughts with every step I took. I was about to meet my son and I couldn't help but wonder if he would look like me? Would he have his mother's eyes, her kindness? Would he recognize me, feel safe in my presence?
