Everything seemed odd at the Ironclaw family, and even as I drove home, I couldn't help but feel uneasy. There was an ominous feeling in the air, one that I couldn't shake off no matter how hard I tried. Jerome's behavior had been particularly strange, and his insistence on stalling me made me suspicious. Something wasn't right, but I would worry about that when I got home.
I continued on the path, but suddenly came to a halt when a man jumped in front of the car out of nowhere. I slammed on the brakes, the car skidding to a stop just inches from the man. Heart pounding, I jumped out, ready to help or defend myself if necessary. The man looked disheveled and terrified, his eyes wide with panic.
"Help me!" he gasped, clutching his side. "They're after me!"
