It took a moment for the information I had received to sink in, and I genuinely had no idea how to react to what I had just heard. I had been pregnant? For how long? I didn't even have a clue, and now one of my babies was gone. A swirl of emotions—shock, grief, confusion—washed over me.
"Why? How?" I managed to squeeze out, but Damian was no longer certain if he should keep telling me about any of it anymore. The news was clearly doing more harm than good for me in this situation, and I understood his reasons for concern perfectly well.
The doctor walked in before I had the chance to properly cry for the child that I had just lost, and he quickly ordered everyone in the room to give us some space.
"How are you feeling, my lady?" He inquired while he checked for basic things like my pulse and the rate of my heartbeat.
