The last person I wanted to cross paths with at the moment was Miranda, yet she stood right in front of me, a sad smile playing at the corner of her lips as we locked eyes. She seemed different, it wasn't just the fact that she had concealed her scent, and changed it to resemble that of a werewolf. It was something else, she had lost a lot of weight, and seemed almost pitiful in her new look.
"Miranda," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. The memories of our last encounter flashed through my mind, the betrayal still fresh and raw. But it wasn't just that. Whispers have been going around that I had used black magic to attack Emily. And while the rumors were subtle, there was no denying its existence. A witch showing up in the midst of all of this controversy was the last thing I wanted. "What are you doing here?"
