Under the guidance of the Ghost-type Pokémon on Glaseado Mountain, Summer and his group now had a clear objective for their journey, no longer needing to wander aimlessly. However, this didn't mean all the dangers had disappeared. Steep cliffs, winding mountain paths, and the constant threat of avalanches meant that a moment of carelessness could lead to death.
Yagen maintained his full Aura sensing state throughout the journey, which placed a considerable burden on him. Despite this, he still took the time to explain the abilities of the calamity to Summer, ensuring that Summer wouldn't fall into danger due to the unknown.
Each of the four calamity Pokémon was born with an elemental energy: wooden tablets with grass, magatama with fire, a cauldron with ground, and the calamity on this snowy mountain, naturally, with ice.
It transformed from a broken sword into a white leopard-shaped Pokémon, incredibly fast, highly aggressive, and capable of manipulating ice and snow, making it extremely troublesome. The treacherous terrain and harsh climate of Glaseado Mountain perfectly complemented it, which was why Yagen had to retreat during a previous encounter.
The second ability of the calamity Pokémon was even more troublesome: their mere existence affected the surrounding life.
The calamity of the tablet eroded thoughts with its invisible, eerie words, causing people to lose the will to fight.
The calamity of the magatama tormented the mind with jealousy, causing irrationality.
The calamity of the cauldron tormented the mind with fear, causing loss of judgment.
The calamity of the sword on Glaseado Mountain induced a bone-chilling fear of death, causing people to give up resistance.
Therefore, one must maintain a firm will and not show any slackness when fighting the calamities.
Summer was grateful that he had strengthened his mental resistance earlier; otherwise, he would have doubted his ability to face the calamity of the sword directly.
The last ability was a combination of the previous two, which Yagen named "Great Calamity." In simple terms, the raging blizzard would become the carrier of the calamity of the sword's fear, doubling the torment on both mind and body.
"Finally, my conjecture: they all possess a sinister and evil power, likely with something in common," Yagen said, looking at Summer. "You, coming from the future, might know that this power is countered by Lucario, who can also suppress Cresselia and Wyrdeer."
"Yes, probably Dark-type energy, a type of energy comparable to elemental energy. Yagen, I suggest you use Lucario as the main attacker," Summer said.
Based on Yagen's description, the calamity of the sword should be an Ice and Dark-type Pokémon, making Lucario a natural counter, especially with Yagen's Aura powers aiding it.
"Got it, I understand now. Let's go with that," Yagen nodded.
"But one more thing, Yagen," Summer said, scanning their surroundings. "We can't start the battle just anywhere. We should lure the calamity of the sword to a flat and open area to minimize the threat of an avalanche."
"Exactly, seriousness has its perks!" Yagen said, looking around energetically. "Let's find a suitable burial place for it!"
In the snowy field, a white Pokémon lay leisurely, swishing its thick, ice-crystal-covered tail. The raging blizzard felt like a comfortable massage to it. This Pokémon, known as Chien-Pao in the future, was recorded to freely play in the avalanches it caused.
Chien-Pao opened its deep blue eyes, looking happily at the Pokémon frozen in ice around it, their expressions of terror forever etched in that moment.
"Howl~"
Stretching its lithe body, it decided it was time to find new prey. From the moment it gained its own consciousness, a voice had been whispering in its ear.
"Bring death!"
Without any guidance, Chien-Pao followed the voice's direction, effortlessly creating slaughter. With its sharp teeth, it severed bodies, buried them under blizzards, and froze them with ice, all leading to death.
Boom! A blue light suddenly exploded in the snow. Chien-Pao agilely dodged and growled lowly at the man riding the deer, the prey that had previously escaped its grasp!
"Tsk, missed," Yagen said with a look of regret. "Guess we should run now, Wyrdeer! Go!"
Without hesitation, Wyrdeer turned and began sprinting through the snow with agile steps.
"Howl~!" Chien-Pao howled excitedly, thrilled by the chase and play.
"Perfect, took the bait. Although I want to say that, we need to run faster, Wyrdeer," Yagen said, turning his head, his hand on Wyrdeer glowing faintly blue.
Behind them, an avalanche poured down like a waterfall. Chien-Pao used the snow waves to run, sharp ice pillars constantly attacking Yagen and Wyrdeer, exploding around them.
"Howl~!"
As Chien-Pao's excitement grew, the blizzard around them intensified, rapidly draining Wyrdeer's stamina. Dodging and running while maintaining a protective shield was exhausting even with Yagen's help.
"How much further? Wyrdeer, drop the shield; I'll take over!"
Yagen spread his arms, a blue shield enveloping them. They just needed to reach that place to shut this arrogant creature up.
Meanwhile, Summer watched the slope intently. Hearing the rumbling, he knew the avalanche was coming, which meant Yagen and the calamity of the sword were on their way.
"It's coming, Hatterene."
Hatterene assisted Cresselia in maintaining the protective shields around each Pokémon and Summer. It also notified the other Pokémon.
With the long-distance chase and the slope leveling out, the avalanche's intensity weakened. Chien-Pao stopped manipulating the snow, focusing on conserving energy and wearing out its prey.
Chien-Pao burst into terrifying speed, turning into a white streak. At this moment, Yagen had reached Summer's side.
"Now, attack!" Summer shouted, swinging his hand down.
Ogerpon, Ursaluna, and Lucario received the signal, using all their strength to strike the ground. Boom! Chien-Pao lost its balance as the ice beneath it shattered. Not the ground, but an ice-covered lake with hot springs at its base, making the ice fragile, instantly breaking under the three Pokémon's attacks.
This lake was a perfect natural trap for Chien-Pao. Ghost-type Pokémon, who had lived and died on the mountain for generations, had informed Summer of this place.
Falling onto the icy lake, Chien-Pao still thought it was playing with its prey. Summer knew that a lake alone couldn't hold the calamity of the sword. He saw the lake quickly refreezing.
Holding a crimson crystal, Summer said to the eager Ogerpon beside him, "Let's bring warmth to this cold with our power, Ogerpon!"
