Chapter 85 - Chapter 85: The Lake's Overlord - One Punch Rillaboom

Brooklet Hill is composed of several tiered, ring-shaped lakes, where the water flows down the terraces, bringing ample oxygen and supporting a rich variety of aquatic Pokémon.

Corviknight landed beside the largest lake, which was situated at the lowest level.

"Before closing its shell, Tapu Fini mentioned 'water,' and this is the most water-abundant place on Akala Island."

Holding Tapu Fini, Summer gently placed it into the lake. Sensing the water, Tapu Fini floated steadily on the surface and drifted towards the center of the lake.

"It seems my guess was correct. Now, how do I summon the Totem Wishiwashi from the lake?" Summer pondered.

As Summer was lost in thought, Tapu Fini had already drifted to the center of the lake. Ripples spread out from it, and countless blue light spots appeared on the lake surface, converging towards it.

"This scene..."

The changing scenery caught Summer's attention. He had seen this scene before—it was identical to when Milotic fed. So, Tapu Fini was also feeding, replenishing its energy?

Considering this, Summer realized that Tapu Fini had indeed been very tired, and its closed-shell state was a form of energy-saving mode.

"Ka!"

Corviknight suddenly cried out, noticing something gathering at the bottom of the lake—an enormous, dense swarm!

"It seems we don't need to intervene. Rillaboom, prepare for battle. Use Grassy Terrain first," Summer instructed.

If he wasn't mistaken, the entities gathering at the lake bottom were the Totem Wishiwashi. Individually, they were weak, but when one sent out a distress signal, nearby Wishiwashi would all gather.

A single Wishiwashi might be feeble, but thousands gathered together could become incredibly powerful. In their school form, they were known as the demons of the sea.

A deep blue giant fish leaped from the water, glaring at Tapu Fini at the lake's center, clearly displeased with its absorption of the nearby water energy.

"Corviknight, use Taunt to lure them over," Summer commanded.

While Summer believed Tapu Fini's shell could withstand the attacks of the school-form Wishiwashi, it would definitely be in a bad mood if it opened its shell after finishing absorbing energy only to find itself under attack.

Taunt usually relied on provocative language and dark energy to anger the opponent, forcing them to use only offensive moves. However, if the taunt was too intense, it could provoke an even stronger reaction. Corviknight was a master of this art.

"Caw caw~" (Trash~ Trash~ Only gathering to feel good about yourselves~ Individually, you're probably weaker than a Caterpie~)

The light spots on the school-form Wishiwashi flickered, and its enormous body glared at Corviknight, emitting an aura of extreme anger. It seemed Corviknight's words had hit the mark.

The school-form Wishiwashi surged towards Corviknight, a torrent of water gathering in its mouth, ready to unleash a Hydro Pump at the noisy bird.

"It looks like the plan worked. Well done, Corviknight," Summer praised.

Corviknight showed a proud expression. It knew the value of executing a perfect Taunt. Even the creator deity Arceus would be provoked to slap it.

"Rillaboom, Corviknight, use aerial assault tactics."

"Boom!"

"Caw!"

Rillaboom and Corviknight combined forces and took to the sky. Sharp leaves appeared beside Rillaboom, which it hurled at the school-form Wishiwashi.

The Razor Leaf struck the Wishiwashi, causing a few to fall from the school, but it didn't inflict much damage. In their school form, Wishiwashi's stats soared, and the Totem aura granted them unparalleled defense.

At this moment, the Wishiwashi's Hydro Pump was ready. A torrent of water shot from its mouth with terrifying force.

But Corviknight, having honed its danger perception skills beyond ordinary Pokémon in special training, deftly maneuvered in the air, dodging the torrent. Now, Corviknight only wanted to shout, "Thrilling!"

The school-form Wishiwashi didn't mind missing its target. It let out a deep roar, summoning a large pink fish, Alomomola, the healer. The Wishiwashi had called it for its healing abilities.

If the school-form Wishiwashi's health dropped below half, the Wishiwashi summoned by the distress signal would scatter, leaving the Totem Wishiwashi weak despite its aura.

"Rillaboom, go for a direct attack! Use Wood Hammer, don't give it a chance to heal!"

Following Summer's command, Corviknight flew low over the water, carrying Rillaboom. Rillaboom's fists slammed together, deep green tree trunks forming around its arms.

The life energy floating on the lake gathered around Rillaboom. On Grassy Terrain, Grass-type moves were enhanced.

"Go, Rillaboom!" Summer shouted.

"Boom!"

Rillaboom's arms swung back, and it leaped from Corviknight's back into the air, filled with immense power.

Rillaboom's Wood Hammer came down on the school-form Wishiwashi's head like a falling tree. The head Wishiwashi, unable to bear the pressure, fainted and fell from the school.

Its last thought before blacking out was to never form the head again.

The tremendous impact rippled through the school, knocking out over half of the Wishiwashi. The remaining Wishiwashi all had the same thought—run!

In an instant, the once imposing school-form Wishiwashi dispersed, the Wishiwashi scattering in all directions, leaving a bewildered single Wishiwashi floating on the water, wondering what just happened.

The other stunned Wishiwashi floated belly-up on the water. The summoned Alomomola swam leisurely towards them, releasing healing pulses to restore their strength.

Summer hadn't expected Rillaboom's single Wood Hammer to dismantle the school-form Wishiwashi. No, more precisely, to break their formation.

Hovering in the air, Rillaboom was equally surprised but quickly turned from surprise to alarm as it was about to fall into the water—and it couldn't swim. "Corviknight, save me!"

But Corviknight, flying above, was more concerned with the multitude of fish. It struggled to resist diving down to catch them.

Just as Rillaboom neared the water's surface, a bubble enveloped it—Tapu Fini, having replenished its energy, had returned to normal.

Tapu Fini looked exasperated. "Such rowdy and troublesome kids. They need to be taught a lesson."
