An hour later, we finally arrived at the Marchioness's estate. As the carriage slowed to a stop, I leaned out the window, my eyes widening at the sight before me.
The mansion was truly a marvel to behold. Its gleaming white walls stretched far into lands, adorned with intricate carvings and metal accents that caught the late afternoon sun.
At each corner were towers that watched over the lands for any intruders, just like with every mansion.
The sheer size of the estate was staggering - it seemed to sprawl endlessly across the manicured grounds, each wing and annex more grand than the last.
But what struck me most was the constant presence of guards.
They stood on watch at regular intervals along the towering iron gates that encircled the property, their armor shining and their postures ramrod straight. Their vigilant gazes swept across the grounds, missing nothing. It was clear that security here was taken very seriously.
