Chapter 62 - Chapter 63: I Don’t Care How You’re Doing

Li Liusi had typical symptoms of a fever, so Shen Lang didn't bother with the long registration line. He went straight for an emergency consultation and handled her hospitalization paperwork.

Once everything was settled, Shen Lang intended to check on Li Liusi in her hospital room. However, he was immediately called over by a nurse who looked serious, saying the specialists wanted to talk to him.

"Shit, what if she has some serious illness?" Shen Lang thought, feeling anxious as he followed the nurse into the specialist's office.

"You're Mr. Shen, right?" The female specialist, in her forties, adjusted her glasses and examined Shen Lang. "Do you know what's going on with your girlfriend?"

"I don't."

It was understandable for Shen Lang to be mistaken for Li Liusi's boyfriend in this situation. He just wanted to know why the doctor called him in.

"Aside from the fever, we found that she's extremely exhausted, has serious sleep deprivation, and is lacking in nutrition," the specialist explained sternly. She then added, "Your girlfriend has a really good figure. Her original bra size was only 30, and she couldn't even fit into it. It's lucky she didn't have any issues from it."

The specialist couldn't help but laugh a little more. "And her bra color is so outdated. I'm nearly forty and wouldn't wear that kind of style. As her boyfriend, you might want to buy her something nicer. It would make her more comfortable."

Shen Lang nodded vigorously. "Oh, right, right."

"Anyway, your girlfriend has had her fever-reducing injection. She needs to rest and recover. Don't let her overwork herself."

"Got it."

Shen Lang apologized sincerely and asked, "So, she doesn't have any major issues, like cancer or anything, right?"

"Huh? Why would you hope she has cancer?" the specialist asked, puzzled.

"No, no."

Shen Lang gave an awkward smile, scratching his head. "So what bra size should my girlfriend be wearing?"

.....

Around six in the evening, Li Liusi weakly opened her eyes to an unfamiliar ceiling and occasional sounds from outside.

She noticed the IV drip in her right hand and the white hospital gown she was wearing. She recalled feeling exhausted in the elevator and being helped into the car by Shen Lang but couldn't remember what happened next.

"Hey, you're awake?"

Seeing that Li Liusi was awake, Shen Lang immediately turned off Douyin, sat next to her, and felt her pale forehead.

"Yeah, it's not as hot now. How are you feeling? Better?"

"Yeah, much better. Thanks a lot."

Li Liusi felt warm inside, deeply grateful. "I'll pay you back for today's expenses."

"Sure, sure, I'm waiting for you to pay me back."

Shen Lang wasn't bothered by it. He brought over some porridge he'd bought, found it at the right temperature, and offered a spoonful to her. "Here, open up."

Li Liusi, surprised and slightly embarrassed, tried to back away. "No, no, I can do it myself."

"Come on!"

Shen Lang handed the spoon to her. "Show me how you'd do it. Are you a lefty or something?"

Looking at the IV in her right hand, Li Liusi lowered her head sadly. "Please, don't be harsh..."

Shen Lang took the spoon back and held it to her lips. "Who's being harsh? I just don't like your stubborn attitude. Eat up."

Li Liusi glanced at Shen Lang shyly, took the spoon, and ate slowly, looking adorably clumsy.

"Burp~"

After finishing the whole bowl of porridge, Li Liusi couldn't help but burp and turned her head away, embarrassed.

"Looks like you're full."

Shen Lang got up and handed Li Liusi the bra he bought. "Here's something for you. The doctor said your old one didn't fit and could be dangerous."

Shen Lang had run around to several lingerie stores before finding a suitable size for Li Liusi at a shop specializing in foreign brands.

Li Liusi opened the bag curiously and was stunned to find it was a very large size.

"Just to be clear, the nurses helped you change clothes. I didn't..."

Before Shen Lang could finish, he saw Li Liusi's body trembling, tears rolling down her cheeks onto the bedding.

Shen Lang had never seen a girl cry so silently before.

Li Liusi didn't even know why she was crying.

Despite being neglected and excluded by her roommates, she managed to endure. She could cope with having her salary cut by her boss. Even the scorching summer heat while visiting her grandmother was bearable.

But the feeling of being cared for, of someone paying such close attention to her, touched her deeply, making her cry at a moment that should have been joyful.

Having grown up in a miserable family, Li Liusi was extremely closed off and felt unworthy of receiving kindness from others. She was used to downplaying other people's gestures with a humble attitude: "I'm fine, you don't have to worry about me."

Yet here was someone who was taking such meticulous care of her, as if saying, "I don't care how you are."

This kind of concern shattered Li Liusi's self-esteem and emotional barriers.

"Thank you, Shen Lang."

Li Liusi wiped her tears with her sleeve and, through her tear-streaked face, smiled brightly. "You're really a great person."

[Ding! Li Liusi's affection for the host increased by 10 points, now at 30 points. Keep it up!]
