Sensing her confusion, Karl quickly added, "I was joking, my Lady. Though sometimes it feels like the truth in this castle."
Relief washed over Eiravyne's face as she managed a small, nervous laugh.
"Oh," she replied softly, a hint of embarrassment coloring her cheeks. "I-I see."
Karl smiled kindly, recognizing her unease. "No harm done," he reassured her. "It's a tense situation, but we'll sort it out.."
Eiravyne nodded gratefully, grateful for Karl's attempt to lighten the mood.

Karl couldn't help but notice the telltale signs of sleeplessness etched on her face.
