Karl was taken aback when he heard Eiravyne's voice outside his cottage.
He had spent the entire previous night taking care of Urag, ensuring his wound was treated and keeping him heavily sedated.
The unexpected knock and the urgency in her voice startled him.
He quickly moved to the door, unlocking it and swinging it open to reveal Eiravyne standing there, her eyes red and swollen from crying.
She looked fragile.
" Lady Eiravyne?" he said, his voice filled with concern. "What are you doing here? You should be resting."
Eiravyne shook her head, her breath coming in shaky gasps. "I... I needed to do something," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I couldn't stay in that room any longer."
Karl stepped aside, allowing her to enter. He could see the torment in her eyes, the way her body trembled as she walked past him.
