Chapter 9 - 9. SEE - MAN UP

9. SEE - MAN UP

Kay paced around a certain spot, stroking his chin. "I know it's stupid but I feel she is here and not here at the same time."

He looked at the ground then to the roof then the hole in the train. "Or maybe I was wrong to think spirits existed even if they did, she's a living breathing human being. It's just that it bothers me that she's hurt, I guess I should get going then."

Kay gripped his bag handle tighter and turned to leave when he heard a light whisper in his ear.

--"Curses! He's too strong!"--

He swerved back sharply to find nobody there...

--"I should have listened to uncle and not run a sham about my exorcism business."--

--"If only I had someone here to help me..."--

Kay felt a cold chill welling up from the depths of his chest as his body was amassed by a dark fog. He could see Sasha on her knees looking up at a huge black figure that caused his spine to revebrate.

"I-- I-- I-- is that... GOLLUM! A ghost!?" He shivered greatly.

An horrendous presence set in.

"Um, girl! G-- g-- get out of there!"

He was too paralyzed by fear toive and she seemed not to be able to hear him.

"Why can't she hear me? Is this just an apparition like before?" He asked timidly. "No! It's a realm of sorts, I think I've read about this somewhere before. The spirit realm, if I'm right then there is no way a hand like me can get through the barrier that seperates our worlds."--

"Or maybe if I had some powerful photon powered transmodifier--! What am I even saying, stuff like that don't exist--"

A voice jolted him from behind.

"HEY BOY!!"

Out of fright Kay screamed out.

"WAAAAAHHHHH!! NO GOD! I'M TOO YOUNG TO DIE!!"

A group of station officers accompanied by the earlier officer came into the train.

"Hey!"

"What are you doing standing there?"

"Can't you see we're here to fix that darn hole, some dipshit blew open."

"I bet my money it was terrorists!"

"Get away from there boy!"

Kay mumbled as he shook with fear and worry.

"Um, uh, my friend, um, not my friend. The g-- girl I was with she's trapped in this other dimension and I think she needs help!"

The officers all took turns looking at each other before bursting into laughter.

"I-- I-- it's true." He beckoned.

"You expect us to fall for your pranks boy? Run along now, would ya?" Said one if the security officers as he stopped laughing and glared at him like a mad bear.

The officer that had first encountered him stepped forward and stopped before him. "Hey guys! I think he might be really up to somethin'. His gal was a handful, makes me wonder where she is now."--

"So where is she now, eh?"

"Who cares, let's take him in for questioning or something. The engineers will be here to fix this hole, if they could. This is beyond me!"

Kay trembled with fear, "Um, n-- n--n--n-- no! You don't understand. I can't leave her alone, she'll die!"

He suddenly remembered something his uncle used to tell him about him needing to man up. The world was a dangerous place as it was and his timidness itself always made him prey to the dangerous claws of life.

"They won't believe me, nobody does. I'm just that awkward, quiet boy no one sees..."--

--"I am already used to it!"--

--"Well I used to be, till I met her. She noticed me, and we talked. So there is no way I am loosing the only potential friend I ever had."

He reached for his glasses before the officer could stop him and pulled it out...

But nothing happened!

"W-- why?" He almost cried. "But this is when I lose conciousness and-- why did I do that anyway? What was I expecting to happen?"

His mind became a total blank!

The officer reached out and yanked hik by the ear, "You little troublemaker, pulling a stunt like that again? What do you have to say for yourself?"

Kay shook his head vigorously and mustered up all his courage and screamed at the top of his voice.

"SEEE - KAAAY!!!"

His body exploded with radiant light as he transformed. "Hrrm! Gear three then?"
