Chapter 99 - Emptiness

After dropping Leila off, Xavier thought about going to Eighth Garrison to get some work done. He had been away for the past few days, so he was sure a lot of work had accumulated on his desk. 

However, he changed his mind and headed back to Sterling's house. 

When he arrived, he found Sterling was back home. He was in the kitchen eating a piece of steak elegantly. Xavier observed him for a moment before making his presence known. Sterling was startled by his sudden appearance. 

"I thought you would have headed back to the Eighth Garrison," Sterling said with a small smile. "It is not like you to stay away from work for a long time. This has to be a record for you."

Sterling did not look unwell, but there was something off about him. He was not exactly pale, but there were obvious signs of stress and fatigue. Unfortunately, Xavier could not tell if it was because of blood loss.
