Leila looked up coldly at Holly while Mason lowered his head. Usually, he avoided his sisters because they did not seem to like him. He had almost forgotten every moment they had shown him a pleasant face.
All the good times were erased by neglect and pain.
Normally, Amelia ignored him because he was not useful to her. He did not mind it. She was not someone he wanted to be close to even though she was his sister. He knew she did not care about anyone apart from herself.
She would not hesitate to discard those who were not useful to her. He saw how she treated her friends who lost value, especially during the past year. In comparison, he preferred being ignored even though it hurt a little.
Holly was a different story.
As the last child in the Campbell family, Mason wanted to be close to Holly because she was the youngest person in the household. He thought they could play together like he saw other children his age play with their siblings.
