Amelia looked at her with obvious disbelief. She wondered if Leila was suspicious about her motives, but she dismissed it. She had not done anything yet to make Leila think she was not a good person.
"Really? That is so strange." Amelia commented.
Leila's eyes twinkled with mischief as she looked at Amelia.
"Not really. I understand your mother was the lastborn child and was always the closest to them. It is not strange that our grandparents have grown apart with the older ones over the years." Leila explained.
"I did not know that. My mother has never said anything about being close to them," Amelia responded, but Leila could still see the doubt in those eyes.
"It is true. Why else would they agree to raise me out of the blue when your mother asked them?" Leila said with a strange smile.
