Xavier lifted his hand, and a small ball of deep darkness formed in it. Leila thought he would toss it at the statue like she did her little vial of hellfire. She did not think that he would not be able to accomplish what she asked.
She trusted him.
However, she was wrong about his approach. Instead of him tossing the ball of dark energy, she saw the black ball separate into thin strands that drifted towards the fountain, disappearing in the light.
"Is your energy affected by light?" She asked.
"Not ordinary light. And even in the brightest light, there are always shadows as long as matter exists," Xavier explained. "I am not sure the energy can be considered as just darkness. It feels like a void most times. Other times, it is like a black hole."
It was difficult to explain something he did not understand and even ignored except when it was convenient. Most supernatural beings could not tolerate him unless he appeared to be a simple vampire.
