Valeria stood up from the floor with her thoughts distorted. She had a lot to yell, even more to disclose. But Markos was not in the state of hearing her out. Valeria Hayden never intended to date him. Who would actually? Nobody took fancy towards the nerd Markos with big specs, baggy clothes and a weird haircut.
Everyone deemed Markos as a genius whom one would enjoy talking to but would never date. Valeria also pretended to like him romantically to pass the final exam. However, in the process she actually began to like him until her father stepped in. Mister Hayden forcefully betrothed Valeria to someone else.
Whereas, the day when she was about to tell Markos how interested she was. Mister Hayden was already at his place and offered him money. Since Markos was not born rich and hadn't had any wealth to his name either. Nobody in the college was aware about his family which made him a curious person.
Nonetheless, offering him money Markos thought for a moment. Whereas, Valeria overheard their conversation in which Markos trash talked about Valeria. Calling her a bratty little slut who slept with him just to pass the final exams. Upon hearing that Valeria should be grateful that Markos hadn't revealed her truth in the college.
Valeria had drugged him and clicked a few pictures to blackmail Markos into Stealing the exam papers. Knowing he was the favourite student of the professor, thus it was easier for Markos to pull the desired task. After receiving the papers Valeria deleted those pictures but before that someone leaked those proof.
The news spread like wildfire that Markos got played in a one night stand by Valeria who later on dumped him. However, Mister Hayden knew that his daughter had taken a genuine liking towards Markos. That day Valeria had come to clear up the misunderstanding but saw how her father offered him money.
Even though she had expected Markos to reject the offer. When he accepted the money Valeria was forced to rethink her decision. In her head, Markos was no different from those guys who would do anything for money. Though she was the one who brought him to that situation in the first place.
Nonetheless, Valeria changed her mind and went back home. Whereas, the next news she received was Markos flying out of the country. After that day nobody knew where did he go or what happened to him. Valeria was approached by many elite men due to the influence of her father.
However, she didn't marry anyone or even take a fancy to any guy. At the back of her head, she was unable to forget Markos. Out of nowhere when Valeria received the news of him coming back; something inside her ignited once again. Things grew awkwardly annoying when he bought her company out of nowhere.
In the beginning Valeria assumed that Markos was perhaps genuinely helping her out. Soon the bubble of her fantasy came down crashing when he removed her authority over decisions. Instead of being a wealthy investor Markos began to interfere more. His game plan was initiated when Valeria Hayden walked to his office.
She had nothing in her hands now, no power, authority and wealth she once had. Valeria Hayden was reduced to an ordinary woman struggling for a stable income source. With her head clouded, a heavy heart Valeria took the cab back to her apartment. It was already evening and Markos intentionally made her tired.
Valeria had no intentions of facing her nagging step-mother. She headed straight to her room and closed the door. Plopping in her bed over the tummy, she pursed lips upon seeing the rent notice. They were short on two months rent and now with Markos being the boss; Valeria knew he would make things hard for her.
"Please, not this. Hope there isn't any problem there." Valeria heard her phone ringing, fishing it out of her purse the caller made her nervous. She attended the call and tried to sound convincingly calm. "Ah, yes. Miss Sokram is speaking."
Using a fake name Valeria talked to the caller with a slight change of voice. "Yes, I will transfer the funds for your orphanage soon." Making the remark Valeria ended the call, slumping back in the bed. She was unsure as to what to do with her problems.
There was an utter silence in the room, it appeared her step mother wasn't at home. Perhaps, gone to visit her son in the station. Staring blankly at the ceiling Valeria could not help but feel burdened. A back to back mess was lining up.
"I wish you hadn't come back, Markos." Her thoughts were still stuck over the man who was dead set on ruining her. "I could live with this guilt that I played with your emotions. I could even swallow all those insults you said about me."
Closing her sparkling eyes a tear crawled down her cheek. Only if all those sorrows could be sucked in the bedsheet like that. "How can I work under you now, Markos? When hearing your name reminds me of those days."
Valeria placed her hand over the tummy and gradually put it over her heart. "How will I endure seeing you now?" Despite her denial she still had feelings for him and Valeria could feel it in her gut. Sniffing the same perfume which she bought for him brought up memories.
"Especially when I know what you want from me." Valeria had assumed that Markos wore the perfume to mock her. To remind her of what she had done to him in the past. Why else would he wear the same fragrance when it was a ladies scent?
"Only if you had heard me that day, Markos. Now it is too late to fix things between us. But I won't let you ruin what my dad worked his life for." Shaking her head filled with negative thoughts, Valeria stood up to make dinner for herself.
