Chapter 11 - Marry me, Valeria

"What are you even saying?" Miss Agnes questioned Valeria while she tried to inquire. "Markos is not like that, my child. He is a loving man who knows how to be empathic." She explained while sitting beside her on the bed. "Believe me because I am the living proof of his good intentions." Miss Agnes leaned in placing her hand over Valeria's shoulder.

"I don't know what to believe. Markos has snatched the power of attorney from me. Due to him I am not in a struggling financial phase. And he didn't stop there, Markos has been torturing me since then." Valeria shook her head while looking at Miss Agnes with pleading eyes. "Would you still say he has good intentions towards me?"

Miss Agnes smiled softly while caressing her cheek. "I know Markos, I have seen him grow from rags to riches. While I may not have any idea what he has done to you. But I know him despite not giving birth to Markos, I know my son." Valeria had no idea how to react when she heard those words. She had never met his parents, it was her first time figuring it out.

"If you need anything, do tell me." Miss Agnes stood up from the bed and was about to leave. Pausing there she glanced at Valeria, this time sternly. "Though if you want to go back home no one will stop you. But before leaving, visit Markos in his study room." Valeria simply nodded while having no intentions to do so. Safe play.

After she was gone, Valeria took a moment to think. She was in Markos' room, guessing upon seeing the interior. Dark yet savvy, neat and concise. Certainly according to what Markos liked and his nature was. "What does he want from me now? Why has he brought me here? Goodness!" Valeria raked through her hair, leaning against the bedpost.

Nonetheless, later on when Valeria felt her energy coming back. "My phone?" She looked around, flipping pillows, glancing at the tables. "Markos must have taken it to make me approach him. Should I listen to him at least? After all, I have to get my phone back." Shaking her head Valeria headed towards the arcade. Knowing the way the woman was aware where to go.

Knocking on the door, Valeria walked inside upon hearing no voice. Markos was sitting on the black leather chair with eyes closed. "Where is my phone, Markos? Give it back and I will be gone." Valeria placed her both hands on the glass table while looking at him. "Are you even listening to me, Markos?" She suspected that he was ignoring her intentionally.

"I am listening to you, love." Markos opened his silvery eyes and looked at her with a cunning smile. "I can return your phone, Valeria. Leaving that aside." He leaned back against the chair with fingers interlaced. "I heard you are trying to find lawyers for the power of attorney?" Valeria's expressions hardened, with fingers curled into fists.

"How do you know?" She tried to inquire despite knowing that it was not hard for him to figure it out. "Are you keeping tabs on me now, Markos? How long will you keep on torturing me?" Valeria asked him with her voice raised. Anger was evident on her face as she glared into his eyes. "What do you want now? Buy that lawyer, uh?"

Markos shook his head in disappointment. "Don't you get tired from assuming creepy things about me?" Leaning in, opening a drawer, Markos pulled out some papers. Valeria's heartbeat increased, thinking that he had done something once again to drag her down. "I am not that bad, Valeria. Only if you have given me the margin of being a human who can also commit blunders. Nonetheless."

Valeria saw him sighing in utter sadness and disappointment. However, she was relieved because Markos hadn't planned something for her. "I can return you the power of attorney." Markos proceeded to speak with his hands interlaced. He stared straight into her eyes, while Valeria looked at the file. "But on one condition." A smirk appeared on his face.

"What is it?" Valeria raised an eyebrow while looking at her. "What do you want now after having everything from me?" She still didn't budge and mocked Markos. The man shook his head with a smile and opened the file. Valeria leaned in and glanced at the papers. Shock appeared on her face like a horror story. It was something she hadn't expected from him.

"Are you crazy, Markos?" Valeria shouted upon reading the papers. She stared at him in disbelief as if Markos had something big. "You want me to marry you in order to attain power of attorney?" Markos looked at her with a meaningful grin acknowledging that she had no other option. "Are you in your senses?" She yelled at him while pushing the file.

"Well, your choice. If you want the power of attorney back, including the ownership too; then you have to marry me." Markos spoke with a naughty tone, gesturing towards the file. He knew Valeria would comply because the company was precious to her. In order to get her rightful ownership back she could do anything. Despite her dislike towards Markos.

"Although if you want to set some duration then I can comply. However, it shouldn't be less than 365 days. So, what's your pick?" Markos leaned against the chair once again. Opening the other drawer he pulled out her phone, placing it on the table. "Here. If you want some time to think. Do take it." Pushing the phone towards her, he anticipated her reply.

Meanwhile, Valeria grabbed the phone and bent over the glass table. "You really cannot leave me in peace, uh? Always one thing after another." She straightened herself while glaring at the man in front of her. "Markos Moreno, I will never marry you!" Valeria declared and walked out of the study room. There was no way she would give in to him knowing all Markos wanted was to torture her.

After she left, Markos smirked and looked towards the roof. A gentle whisper escaped his lips. "You sure?" He knew that Valeria would come back to him. The woman would ask him to marry all by herself. If Markos Moreno wanted something or someone, he made sure to get it. This time it was his university crush and first love. Valeria Hayden. How could he not?
