"That's better than nothing," Amelia said, shooting Matteo a comforting smile. "You worked hard today. Sorry that I brought you trouble."
"You didn't do anything; this was your conniving relatives, to begin with," Matteo corrected her gently. He reached out his hand and squeezed it to comfort her. "Don't worry, I'll fix it."
Aiden's face twisted at the display of affection, and he sunk further into the sofa. "How will you fix it though? My mom has already given me an earful about the falling stock prices. Don't say I didn't warn you― she'll gun for you next!"
"But it's not Matteo's fault at all," Amelia said, bewildered. "In fact, you have the least blame― you weren't even there to begin with!"
