Chapter 21 - Trust the process

Just the thought of that basement in the life simulation experienced through observation mode filled Satoru with anger and discomfort. He couldn't bear the idea of losing his freedom and mobility again, especially after having just regained them not long ago. Anyone who tried to take away his freedom would be his enemy, someone who deserved punishment.

Unfortunately, they were in a modern urban setting, bound by compulsory education, which forced him to suppress his raging heart. However, a hint of emotion naturally seeped through, serving as a small punishment for Mirai.

"Mirai-chan is a very smart person. You should find the answer yourself!" he replied with a smile.

Mirai's cheeks puffed up slightly. She hated people who played coy, but she had no choice with him. She angrily took a bite of the tiramisu.

As the sweet dessert went down, she felt a little happier. She had never imagined being able to spend time like this with him - far away from her hometown, in Tokyo where there was no one she could rely on—sharing sweets with such a handsome and perfect boy.

"Also, if Mirai encounters any other problems or has other questions, remember to come to me, okay?" Satoru poked her.

"Huh? Anything?" Mirai Miyano couldn't shake off the feeling that he had some hidden meaning behind his words, and it made her feel a little uneasy.

After all, earlier today, after misunderstanding him, she had almost considered activating her basement plan to "torture" him for "betraying" her. At the very least, she wanted him to leave his mark on her...

"Yes, don't act on impulse. I want you to do better, not because I become worse." Satoru nodded gently.

"I understand." Miyuki nodded firmly.

She couldn't be extreme or self-righteous afterwards, especially towards him.

Satoru nodded in satisfaction and slightly relaxed. He gestured with his finger, and Mirai put down her cutlery and leaned closer, blinking her eyes.

He held the strawberry on his lips and passed it over...

She tightly embraced him~

...

"I'll walk you home." Satoru said.

As the sky grew darker, the red glow on the clouds became more vibrant. Satoru and Mirai left the café together.

When young boys and girls are together, there are always unfinished tasks and endless conversations. Companionship is also an important part of it. Satoru had already decided to delve into that theoretical filrting book when he returned home and maybe buy some others as well.

Mirai shook her head and said, "Let me walk you home, Yagami-kun! I don't want to watch you go..."

In reality, she just wanted to know where he lived, but she couldn't ask such a question directly.

Satoru pondered for a moment and nodded. If yesterday's superficial measures were only temporary solutions, today's approach should be more effective in delving into the depths of their hearts. At least, inside the private room, she was cute and obedient.

Mirai kicked the stones on the street, her peripheral vision always shifting to his arm. She really wanted to gather her courage and hug his arm while walking, but she hesitated and held back.

"We're here. This is where I live. Do you want to take a taxi back?" Satoru walked at a brisk pace.

"Oh, no need. I'm pretty strong, so I'm not afraid. Besides, it's not dark yet." Mirai shook her head.

She hesitated for a moment and then said, "Yagami-kun..."

Just as he was about to turn around, Mirai finally mustered the courage to speak up.

Even though she didn't know why he was so good to her, Mirai could sense his care and gentleness. Especially when his warm, large hand moved on her body, she wanted to repay him as much as possible. She didn't want him to feel that she wasn't worth it. These were her simple thoughts.

"Do you need me to prepare a bento for you? That way, you can sleep a little longer in the morning. It's convenient and not troublesome!" She lowered her head, tugging at the hem of her shirt, her face turning red.
