Bright light surrounded him on all sides as soon as he entered the Portal. The light was thin and seemed to be speeding in a certain direction. Music similar to cascading water started singing in his ears. Slowly, the hole narrowed. Ahead of him, a bright light grew steadily larger, and Silas shielded his eyes as the light continued to grow.
Then he found himself hitting the ground. He blinked and realized someone was groaning underneath him.
"Sorry," he said, alarmed as he realized it was the inspector.
He rolled to the ground, letting the man sit up.
When they had finally calmed down, they realized how dark the place was. But as Silas looked up, he noticed something unusual about his surroundings.
Above him, something similar to a sun was hanging in the sky. Instead of emitting warm and bright light, the sun inside this dungeon starkly resembled a sun permanently in a solar eclipse—a dark orb surrounded by a thin ring of light.
