After acquiring the ability to perceive his death moments before it happened, James did not immediately head to the area of the next trial. Instead, he walked up to the middle of the room where a weapon had been dropped.
It was the sword of the kobold he'd slain to pass the PvP trial with flying marks.
He bent down to pick it up.
It was a striking white sword with a hilt that seemed comfortable to grip and a sleek, straight blade tapered to a sharp point, exuding immense sharpness, as if a death sentence would burst out of it at any moment. Most importantly, a delicate symbol of a crescent moon was carved into it, indicating its true worth.
"It's enchanted with a rune. It's a magical item!" Leon exclaimed. "This must be why the kobold was so strong. Now it's mine. But how do I bring out its power?"
If he learned that, the kobold's ultimate move would become his.
He swung the sword, but nothing happened.
He wondered if it was similar to blood-bound items that only reacted after being fed blood. He bit his thumb hard enough to draw blood and smeared it onto the blade.
The sword glowed golden, its light fading quickly after.
James experienced an odd sensation, as though he could make the sword obey him with a single thought.
He pointed it at the nearest wall and commanded, "Show me your true power."
Whoosh!
Suddenly, a ten-meter-long arc, five meters wide, burst out of the sword's body, slicing through the air.
Bam!
It struck the wall, carving a deep, jagged gash into its sturdy structure, the impact echoing like a crack of thunder.
He have truly become the master of this magic weapon!
James was impressed.
"I have secured an excellent item at the very start. It will be easier to climb the various levels of the Land of Trial and find Melody."
