Chapter 19 - LUNA?

It was hard to steal glances from the stranger I was so curious about with Alexander watching me so closely, like it was an abomination to look at Liam.

"I arrived just now, Alpha," Liam replied with a calmness that baffled me. He was the only person in this entire castle who didn't seem intimidated by Alexander's presence, "I was told of your presence in this room and I came searching for you. I guess the whispers of your special guest was true," he looked at me briefly before his eyes returned to Alexander.

Alexander cocked his head, some wet strands of his hair covering one of his eyes. "Were you so bored on your trip that you now care about rumors?" He looked at the door like he was expecting someone else, "Where's he?"

Liam's hand brushed the ridge of his nose.

Alexander's grip on the towel tightened, his knuckles turning white. The cheerfulness in his eyes got replaced with seriousness, but softened when it met mine, "The bathroom's all yours, Princess. Take your time," he said with a smile.

I nodded, hesitantly walking into the bathroom, feeling both Alexander's and Liam's eyes on me. Even as the bathroom door closed behind me, I could still feel the intensity of their gazes.

Inside the bathroom, I slowly breathe in the steam from Alexander's shower that still hung in the air, before turning on the shower. I couldn't deny the curiosity that gnawed at the edges of my mind regarding Liam, but I tried to quench it.

Whoever Liam was, he was Alexander's guest, someone I shouldn't be interested in.

After a few minutes, I dried off and wrapped myself in the plush towels, before I heard a slight knock on the bathroom door.

"Miss Penny," Amaris called out in a tender voice, and I opened the door to find her standing close to it. She smiled before saying, "Your clothes have been laid out for you."

"Thank you, Amaris," I said softly.

When I stepped out of the room, I couldn't sense Alexander or Liam anymore.

We walked to the closet and Amaris helped with my dress and applied makeup on me before she led me downstairs for breakfast.

I walked into the dining room filled with aroma of sumptuous dishes to see Alexander sitting at the head of the table with Liam sitting beside him. When he noticed my presence, he stood to his feet, and dismissed the maid that stood beside my chair with a flick of his fingers.

Placing a soft kiss on my hand he held, Alexander's eyes gleamed with possessiveness. "You look absolutely beautiful, Princess," he said with a seriousness that made my knees weak, drawing out my chair for me to sit.

I felt uneasy with the way Liam watched us, especially Alexander, with amazement. In spite of his stare, I replied, "Thank you, Alexander," as I sat on the chair.

Alexander's touch lingered on my back before he started serving some bacon and eggs on my plate, stunning Liam even more.

After placing some servings on mine, he sat down and let the maids do their job. They placed food on his plate and Liam's.

"I looked through your allergies, and personally tested the food out," Liam said as he watched me take a bite of the bacon.

I almost choked on the food when I heard his words.

Why would a king risk his life to be my personal tester?

My shocked state didn't stop me from noticing the change in Liam's demeanor as well, and I turned to look at him.

"He's Liam, my Beta," Alexander introduced as I stared at Liam for the seventh time since I walked into the room, "You don't have to be skeptical about him."

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Luna," Liam said with a small smile at the corner of his lips.
