Chapter 3 - Meet (Part 1)

Alexa woke up again when she felt someone gently caress her cheek. Her eyelashes trembled slowly before her eyes could finally focus on reflecting the image of the person now sitting on the edge of her bed.

Seeing that she had woken up, a man smiled slightly at her. At first glance, Alexa could tell that this was the man who currently held the status of her husband.

His broad body was clad in a three-piece suit, which at first glance looked very expensive. The man's hair was cut short, black, and looked very contrasting with his white skin. Overall, Alexa had to admit that this man was indeed attractive when seen in person.

"Did I wake you up? You can go back to sleep if you're still sleepy."

Alexa shivered slightly when she heard the low, soft voice. That voice was the kind of voice that could charm many girls with just one word. Alexa now prefers to get up, she uses her pillow to lean on the bed.

"You are... Dominic?" Alexa asked doubtfully. The man smiled, and his hand moved to wrap Alexa's hand carefully.

"Yeah, that's me. Do you remember me, Lexa?" Dominic asked hopefully. His sexy lips smiled as he looked sincerely at Alexa. The woman was confused now. Why could a man with this much charisma look at her with such a loving gaze?

"Rika talks about you all the time. I have to ask your permission to leave the room, ask your permission to ask about your work, and ask your permission to find out about my past which has now disappeared without a trace," said Alexa calmly. Alexa wants to know, will her husband be angry with her sarcasm? Her husband looks like a person who easily loses control of his emotions.

Surprisingly, Dominic didn't seem offended at all by her words. The man's smile widened even more, a foreign smile that made Alexa a little uncomfortable deep inside her heart.

"I'm just worried about you, Baby. And Rika, she's just a good girl who obeys all my orders. There's no need to be angry. Now that I'm back, you can ask me all that directly. As long as I'm capable, I will try to grant all your requests," said Dominic patiently. His hand moved to gently rub Alexa's fingers. There was a flash of awe as he looked at those fingers without blinking an inch.

"Is that how you've loved me all this time? By doing whatever I want while locking me up in the middle of nowhere?" Alexa asked in surprise. Dominic nodded, letting go of Alexa's hand to move to her hair.

"Yes, that's because I love you too much," said Dominic smoothly. Alexa's eyebrows raised. Is that true? Why is it that even after meeting Alexa in person, she still can't awaken any feelings for Dominic?

Was this marriage just one-way love from the start?

Ah, no. Alexa couldn't make that reckless conclusion when her memory was still like a blank sheet of paper.

Moreover, now she is expected to have a perfect husband who continues to look at her with adoring eyes.

"Then, tell me something. Who am I really, and why did I get to marry you?"

Dominic nodded, ready to answer Alexa's question.

"Your name is Alexa Rutterford, wife of Dominic Rutterford. We met in junior high school and were in the same class for two years. At the end of junior high school, I asked you to be my girlfriend. You agreed, and we changed our status from friends to lovers from then on."

"We were in the same high school and university after that, before finally deciding to get married after graduation and university," explained Dominic. There is no feeling of rush as he lays it all out. Alexa listened to Dominic's explanation seriously, before continuing her second question.

"Then my parents, where are they?"

Dominic sighed, a look of regret clearly written on his face.

"They died two years after we got married. In a car accident, your father's car hit a road divider and fell from a height. Your father and mother were buried in my family grave, next to the graves of my father and mother," answered Dominic. Alexa was pensive. "Your father and mother are also gone?" she asked, to which Dominic nodded.

"They've been gone since I was in high school. You're the only one I've had since then," added Dominic. Alexa looked hesitant before saying her third question.

"When I was walking, I didn't see any photos of us together. I asked Rika, but she said that before I lost my memory, I fought with you until I finally fell down the stairs and lost my memory. Now can you tell me what caused me angry at that time?" she asked. Dominic took a deep breath. His tired face could no longer be hidden now.

"I forbade you from going out that day. You were pushy, and I was stubborn. You deliberately burned all my photos and gifts to make me angry. But you didn't succeed. I wasn't angry at all with your treatment. Besides, we can replace all the gifts and photos whenever you want later."

Dominic took off his tie. His sharp eyes saw the wrinkles on Alexa's forehead.

"And because you were angry, you intended to go alone at that time. You were afraid I would chase you and carelessly ended up falling down the stairs. You don't know how scared I was at that time, Lexa."

Dominic took Alexa's hand gently. He brought Alexa's hand to his lips. Dominic's eyes were closed as if he was trying to throw away all the bad memories of him frantically trying to stop the bleeding of Alexa, who was lying weakly in his arms.

"So, I can conclude that you are the strict type, right? And I basically don't like being restrained by you."

Hearing Alexa's conclusion, Dominic's eyes opened again. His face was still calm, too calm, as he smiled slightly at Alexa.

"Well, I just love you too much. And, Baby, I know you understand that."

Alexa shook her head. "No, I don't understand at all. You're strange, and what's even stranger is that 'I' want to marry someone like you. Just being in this house for a week is already giving me a headache. I definitely can't be in this house any longer," said Alexa bravely. Her eyes stared directly into Dominic's brown pupils. The man stood up and left the room without saying anything else.
