And as I took it on my hand, I saw Cosmos contact shining.
Rolling my eyes, I picked up, "You didn't tell me how you are!"
"Did you really put Highway to Hell by AC/DC as my ringtone, master Cosmos?" I scoffed. "Will you never stop with the silly comparisons of my name with Hell?"
I could tell he was grinning, "Never. And call me father."
"Fine, father. So, what do you want?" I licked my fangs.
"You didn't tell how your day was!"
Grinning, I moved my weight to my left leg, "Oh, so, you're calling to know if I got into a fight? Don't worry, I did. Be proud of me, if I'm such a magnet for trouble, it's your fault."
"Sweet. So, who did you fight?"
"In my 1st, 2nd, or 3rd fight? I mean, I was about to start the 3rd going against," I counted the kids in the room and they all gasped at my audacity. "Oh, yes, against ten kids. Two vampires, a dark witch, a fairy, a seraphim, a siren, a succubus demon, two shifter and a kraken," according to what Jack said.
"Sound exciting. Are they important?"
"All Royal heirs or of Grand Duchies. Is that important enough for you?" I grinned, keeping an steady arm on Felix for him to stay behind me. "First fight when I arrived, the after dinner. Both times it was against those damned vampires of what Felix called some made up shite titled the Circle." Ah, they got even more pissed at my words.
["They are wary because you're in the phone with this guy!"]
And they should. They all know Cosmos. "But only one of them was able to present me with an interesting fight, twice. Though I have no desire in getting anywhere near that vampire piece of shite."
"You ain't going to back from a fight, Hel!"
"As if. Come on, father, you know my temper. I love fighting, even more when it's a display of power. Learned with you," I clicked my tongue. "But it's annoying, my tattoos aren't all done yet, so my skin is still kind of tingling."
He gasped, "When did you get tattoos?"
"Oh? When you dropped me in the fucking Himalayas, arsehole. A bit more than a week ago, remember?" I said sarcastically. "Took me five days to get all of them done," sigh.
"Five day?" Felix gasped behind me.
"Is that my nephew? Are you with him? IN A FIGHT?"
That got me chuckling, "I'm protecting your nephew. Chill out."
"What? They were messing with him?" Oh, his mad.
And by how all the kids turned pale, they probably heard his scream from the phone. How amusing, "Not necessarily. I mean, they did call him a dog, but they called me the same," I chuckled amused. "But I'm the target in here, alright? Lix is just accompanying me. I ain't letting anyone in this bloody Academy touch a string of his hair, unless he wants them to."
"Hel!" Felix gasped embarrassed.
"Thank goodness. Here I was scared that you would bully him!"
I rolled my eyes, "Do I look like a bully to you, arsehole? You're mistaking me for someone else. I don't bully anyone, I simply answer to provocations by provoking them back."
He burst out laughing, "That's the Hel I know. How many tattoos did you get then? For your skin to be like that."
"I don't know. Two hundred? But they are small, relax. They are adorning my thick skin," thick of scars. "Oh, and want to know something that will make you emerald with jealousy?"
"Hit me."
"Hannah gave me a Wolpertinger!" I exclaimed wolfishly.
"No bloody way! You're messing with me!" He is jealous!
"Hell yeah. He bonded with me the second he saw me, can you believe it? It was what? Ten hours ago? Less than that? I mean, he even spoke with me right off that bat," and it was delicious to see the shock in the kids faces as I let it settle. "I named him Jack, and he looks like me."
To my dismay, they laughed at it. All of them did. But the ten kids quickly covered their mouths, as if guilty for laughing over my joke.
"What the hell is that supposed to mean, Hel?" He's still laughing.
I rolled my eyes, "Before my hair turned silver, it was pitch black like mom's, arsehole. Jack's fur is in the same black my hair used to be, all those years ago, before… you know what. And his eyes are blue like mine too. Besides, he has fags and wings too. He definitely look like me."
["Is that a compliment?"]
"Hey, you arsehole," I glared at him. "I know I'm ugly, but that's not what I mean, alright? Besides you didn't bond with me for my looks. It was for my power was it not?"
"Did the Wolpertinger call you ugly? What the hell?"
I rolled my eyes, "I mean, he wouldn't be lying. But whatever. That isn't what's important in here. We both know my looks aren't my strongest trait, it's by far my weakest. So, is that anything else you want, father?"
"What are you thinking of the Academy?"
"I haven't even been here for a full day, how would I know? Plus, everybody hates me, which is fine with me. I'll also meet the old witch in the morning to get my schedule. Though I highly doubt it'll be anywhere as though as what you made me go through," and that's fine.
He giggled again, "Come on, you're sculpted thanks to me, Hel."
"I'm not saying I'm not. My muscles are fine. So much that the tattoo artist kept telling me how much of a good job you made by building me up like this. Oh," there's something I forgot, "you I was normal, but she kept bringing up that my breasts were too big. Is there something wrong?"
"With your chest? Absolutely not! Who did your tattoos?"
"An ancient vampire. And she knew my mom," I gulped, tensing.
"Hel…"
I looked down at my hands, clenching them in fists, "It's okay. I know I shouldn't dwell on it too much. And you should have told me you knew her too, master. I…" I clenched my jaw, taking a deep breath. "Aye, whatever. It doesn't matter. She's long dead and unfortunately my time magic is useless and can't bring me to the past."
"I… I didn't initially know who was your mother, Hel. But I didn't know to bring it up when I learned, I was afraid of touching a breaking point. And your time magic isn't useless!"
The bitter scoff left my lips before I could control it, "It doesn't surprise me that she hid it all from you. That…" I closed my eyes, feeling exposed, too exposed. "Fuck it. I just wanted to know that I'm sure my mom is glad that you raised me these last 10 years, okay? So, whatever weight you may think you were carrying, you don't need to worry."
"Things are complicated, Hel."
"Complicated is an understatement," sigh. "But that's fine. Also, do you know if there's something up with the creepy witch? She read me like a book in a second," I chuckled anxiously. "By that, I mean, she saw my… nature. She must be old as fuck to be able to tell what I am."
"She's rude as hell, to Hel, uncle!" Felix said leaning on my side, suddenly making me all too conscious of the company I have.
I stiffened, putting my blank face on. "In a second she was all too cold and creepy, and then she was all too warm and creepier," sigh. "Keep it between us, I'll deal with her later."
"Fine. But she's always been kind of weird. She's harmless!"
"If she's harmless, I don't have poison in my veins," I mocked. "So, do you want anything from me? Or can I fight these kids?"
"You can fight. Send me a pic of Jack when you can," hah.
"Ah, you're so jealous of me. Don't worry," I side eyed Felix, "I'm sure Hanna will help you bond with one if you ask her with more… kindness and calm. Maybe take her out to dinner."
He coughed, "Are you trying to match me with her, Hel?"
"Me?" I feigned ignorance. "I have more things to do rather than playing matchmaker for you, father. Nevertheless, if you give it a try, I think it would work out a lot. You know, she's cute and all, and she likes a lot of things you do too."
His giggles warmed my skin, "Dumbass, I can handle my heart."
"I don't think you can. You have quite the… putrid taste in love!"
That got him gasping, "Hel!"
Both me and Felix laughed out loud, "Talk later. Bye!" Then I hang up in his face before he could curse me. And as I looked up from my phone to them, I washed away all emotions from my face, only leaving the smug that I know would piss them off like the hell of it. "So, do you still want to fight, is it you kids' bedtime already?"
["You really can't help provoking them, can you?"]
Nah.
