Chapter 11 - XI ||| The Ice Waters of Depression

Airplanes are boring as shite.

I should have taken Abellona's suggestion and flew to Iceland by myself. But no, I wanted to experience how it felt to fly in a airplane, the flying box humans love so bloody much. I've never felt so bored in my life, no even when I was in the coffin.

Three days of travelling in this mundane and boring way got me in a grumpy mood and annoyed with everything. I'll never do this again, ugh. I have telekinesis, air magic, and wings, why did I even gave in to this stupid idea? Humans travel by this because they are weak, don't have spatial magic for portals, any kind of magic that could help them fly, even less wings.

But when I was studying with Cosmos this sounded so fascinating that I wanted to try. Well, been there, regret that, and will never do it again. Lesson learned.

And to make my experience even worse, little after I arrived in Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland, a human male tried to steal my bag and jewels from me. So, I did what Cosmos told me to do in a situation like this one, I beat him up, broke his hands, and handed him to the local police. If we weren't in such a guarded place, I would have cut off both of his hands for the audacity of trying such a trick on me, but he got lucky.

So, I called a taxi to take me to Väänänen Village, and thankfully the driver was a young female human seemingly on her late twenties called Nanna Wærness, who was very friendly and happy to tell me about every place we passed through. Way more enjoyable than my time in the airplane, I confess. And took only a day and half for her to take me to the village.

In the end of the ride, using part of the gold I had converted to euro in my stop on Austria, I paid her two thousand euros, even though it was twice the actual price of the ride. All because the kid deserved and she needed the money more than me. Besides, the kids happiness with the money was worthy.

Five days with Abellona. Three days in the planes. A day on taxi. Nine out of my fourteen days deadline to get to Belladonna Academy went by, but I still have five days, and I'll still get there before Sunday comes.

Feeling disgusted by spending so long near humans, I rented a room in the Herbjørnsrud Inn for a day, the better looking Inn in the village, and I paid in advance for my stay, my expenses, and food. Then, while Death by Melanie Martinez played on my phone speaker, I took a three-hours bath and washed my body five times and my hair thrice, just to get rid of the human stench.

After using my air magic to dry my hair, I listened to Abellona's advice and kept it lose, then I dressed up in a pair of high-waist leather black pants, a pair of high-heeled high black boots, a black tight shit with long sleeves and turtleneck, another pair of black gloves, no bra. The masterpiece of the look being my mother's a adorned solid corset with edges of silver and sculpted from two gems: sapphire blue and diamond, sustaining my breasts and tightening on my ribs, marking my tiny waist, perfect in contrast with the high-waist pants.

To match the ring over the glove and necklace over the turtle neck, I added a pair of obsidian serpent earrings that serpentines around my ears beautifully. Added with a crimson red mate lipstick of pulverized ruby.

Lastly, but not least, I put a obsidian tiara, contrasting with my hair.

When I was done, the clock marked 15h in the afternoon, and I only grabbed the box with six Magnum ice cream of chocolate and peanut, my bag, and the adorned bow and arrows mom had made out of sapphire, perfect for a water spirit who, according to Cosmos, is obsessed with fancy rare crafted weapons, especially bows with arrows. She'll never find one better than this one, it was one of mom's best pieces and she crafted twenty-five sapphire with obsidian sharp arrows to match. With the bottle of Balkan 176 Vodka also in hand, there's no way she'll refuse taking me to the phantom island of Frisland, where Belladonna Academy is.

So, I checked out of the Inn and headed to the bay of the village, where the villagers said Hanna Ruotsalainen lives, and probably where her submarine Keskisaari also is stationed.

When I arrived at the cottage they directed me to, I found a tan skinned girl, who must be around 1.80m (about 13cm taller than me, which is a lot), with a slim curvy body, hip length baby blue hair and lavender eyes, thin red lips, and a small nose with high cheekbones. Surrounded by a depressed air, which kind of suits her weirdly. The second I stopped in front of the cottage porch, her eyes went to me.

Or better yet, to the bow and arrows on my back, towards witch she ran to, her face lightening up with a kind of childish excitement. "Mother's above, is this a Shay Miralanthor exclusive? How did you get your hands in this unique one in a billion masterpiece, kid?" She snapped her finger and the weapon went to her hands.

"It's nice to meet you Miss Hanna Ruotsalainen. You can call me Hel. But my name is Wilhelmina Rosalind Miralanthor!" Only when she heard the last word, did she bring her eyes up to meet mine, and slowly, they widened in realization.

She gasped, "You're her descendant," more like daughter.

But that's fine, "Yes. I'm expected to be in Belladonna Academy, and my guardian told me to come to you because you would take me there, as long as I gave you one of the weapons and this."

I handed her the bottle of Balkan 176 Vodka and she caught it right away, her smile widened with pure happiness. "Who's your guardian?"

"Cosmos. Cosmos Duncan."

She tilted her head to the side, "And here I thought he would never have the guts to raise a kid. He seemingly did a good job. You smell like pure power, I can tell. Come," she turned around, weapon around her body and bottle in hand and I followed her. "Usually I only take the kids there when they are in a big amount together, but I'll make an exception for you and take you to thank you for this," she pointed at the bow. "How did you know which one to chose, Hel? Can I call you Hel, right?"

"Of course. And I chose the sapphire one because in my mind, it's the gem that suits the water element the most," we descended three set of stairs until we got to a bridge that took us to her emerged enormous copper submarine that was parked on the water. "Wow," I mumbled in awe.

Hanna grinned proudly, "I know, she's a beauty, ain't she?"

"Bloody straight she is. I love copper, so she's really beautiful to me, and she's quite the intimidating girl," I looked down to see that was really deep in the water. "A big, big, big girl."

"I like you. You have a good eye," she winked as she opened the door on the ceiling of the submarine for me to enter. After I did, she came behind me and locked it. "Come, do you want to take up one of the rooms, or do you want to stay me in the front while I drive Keskisaari?"

And get bored alone? "I'll stay with you. Can I put a song?"

Nod, "Of course. I love songs. Do you have something in English? I enjoy songs in English the most. You speak English, don't you?"

Oh? I didn't even realized I was speaking her language instead. It was totally automatic. "I do have the songs, and I do speak it."

"You were raised by Cosmos, and yours a descendant of Shay, both dragons, but I don't think you're a dragon," she said as she sat on the high driver's seat, and petted the one on her side for me to seat on it.

After putting Gasoline by Halsey to play in a low volume, I sat on her side, and the second I tied the four different seat beats around my torso she dived the submarine deep into the ocean. "No. I'm not a dragon. I'm something else entirely."

A nod, "Something ancient, am I right? I don't think I've ever met anyone with an energy quite like yours, Hel."

She's clever and sharp, "Something like that."

"It's okay if you don't want to talk about it, don't feel pressured. I'll know when you feel like opening up for the world," she grinned. "I have a feeling that you will be a important piece on the deities chessboard. So, what's your favorite weapon?"

I let out a soft breath of relief when she changed subjects, "Dagger and katana. Twin daggers to be precise. But I'm good with all weapons, even with guns," thanks Cosmos for that.

"What's the most annoying to fight against?"

"Scythe. I also like to fight with it," I caressed the covered spot on my left arm where there's a scythe tattoo. "But I don't like to fight anyone who's using one. That is, except we are both fighting with it. Maybe it's because it was my master second favorite weapon after the sword and when he realized I didn't like to fight against him when he used that shite, he began to use it more constantly," that dumbass.

She giggled, "Cosmos was always the cool male who annoys you to death," is she blushing? "Even though he can teleport to Belladonna using spatial magic, he always insist in me taking him there." Aye, this look in her eyes is definitely that of someone talking about the person they like.

I have to talk with him later. He should forget his helpless crush on Meredith and maybe try something with Hanna, because she's definitely been dreaming with that opportunity. "Yes. He's all cool, but I still don't understand how he's still single."

When I side-eyed her, she had turned ten shades brighter of red, "I think he's afraid of commitment." Is he though?

"Do you have a phone number, Hanna?" I licked my lips.

The water spirit nodded, "Yes. We can switch numbers when you get to the phantom island." And her blush's deepening. "So, you're Cosmos adopted daughter?"

Not necessarily, "Yes. So much that he'll be coming on every holiday, and also in my birthday. Probably on the open events of Belladonna too." By how she softly widened her eyes, my words seemed to have caught her attention as intended.

"He will?"

"Mm-hm," I grinned mischievously.

"When is your birthday, Hel?"

Oh, she's so into him. "April 5th."

Just like that, Hanna's skin turned crimson red like a strawberry, and she gulped, "Can I give you a present?"
