A moment of silence enveloped the ward as none of the three—Zoren, Penny, and Hugo—spoke another word. They looked at each other, with Penny mulling over her second brother's remarks.
"Technically, you shouldn't be there, you know?" she replied after a minute, and all Hugo could think was, 'There she goes again.'
It was no secret that Penny had a bad habit of saving her own skin before considering others. It wasn't that she didn't know how to take accountability, but there were times when she would argue against it.
"Never mind that. It's not important," Hugo waved dismissively. "What's important is what I think we all know."
Those people Charles was talking about were still lingering in the shadows.
