For some reason, Zoren, Angel, and Mark weren't surprised to hear that. However, the diligent Nathaniel seemed to still be shocked, even when he already knew this pit was for him.
Nathaniel gasped, hugging the shovel and then going down on his knees. He kept his head up to look at the emotionless expression in her eyes.
"Madam—young madam! Miss Penelope! Please don't do this to me!" he begged. "I haven't done anything to you! Even if I did, I didn't mean it! I'm sorry, okay?! Please! Can we talk about this?"
"You… haven't done anything to me?" she repeated under her breath, almost laughing at his pleas. "You didn't… mean it?"
