Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Just a Small Amount of Money

"What did you say? You're here to buy a car?" Daniel's voice became shrill with surprise.

The next moment.

"Pfft!"

Daniel and several salespeople nearby couldn't help but stifle their laughter.

Customers who came here to buy cars were either wealthy or distinguished. How could a guy wearing tattered clothes, with holes in them, be a buyer?

"Larry, this is a Lamborghini dealership. We sell luxury cars here, not bicycles." Daniel struggled to keep a straight face.

Larry frowned. "I know this is a Lamborghini dealership. I'm indeed here to buy a car. What? Not welcome?"

Larry could feel Daniel's disdain.

"Of course, you're welcome, but... are you sure you can afford a car here?" Daniel's face was full of contempt.

The surrounding salespeople also chimed in.

"Kid, do you know the cars here cost over a million each?"

"Yeah, do you think someone like you can afford a Lamborghini? What a joke!"

A guy in shabby clothes, affording a Lamborghini?

"A bunch of people looking down on others." Larry hated those who discriminated against the poor.

"What did you say, kid?"

Several salespeople immediately reacted with displeasure. They fawned over the wealthy but had no fear of someone in rags.

"Guys, he's my old college classmate. Let me handle this." Daniel waved the other salespeople off.

"Daniel, it's obvious this kid can't afford a Lambo. Are you sure you want to waste your time?" The salespeople were skeptical.

Daniel smiled and whispered to the salespeople, "He's pretending to be rich. I'll let him pretend until he can't anymore. Let's see how he handles it."

Daniel guessed Larry was probably here for a job interview but, seeing an old classmate, pretended to be a buyer to save face. Daniel planned to play along and then watch Larry fail to buy the car, giving him a chance to mock and ridicule Larry thoroughly.

Then, Daniel turned to Larry and asked, "Alright, Larry, what car do you want to see?"

"A Lamborghini Aventador," Larry replied without hesitation.

"The Aventador?"

Everyone was shocked and then stifled their laughter again.

The Aventador was Lamborghini's flagship model, starting at a million. Anyone in New York who could afford this car was undoubtedly a wealthy heir.

Daniel laughed and said, "Alright, let me show you the car."

He led Larry to the showroom, with the other salespeople following, ready to see Larry make a fool of himself.

In the showroom, Larry stood in front of an orange Lamborghini Aventador.

The appearance and color were incredibly striking.

"It's still as awesome as I remember!" Larry nodded in satisfaction, staring at the car he had once dreamed of owning.

"How much is this car?" Larry asked Daniel.

"The base price is 1.2 million."

After quoting the price, Daniel crossed his arms, ready to watch Larry's reaction, expecting him to be shocked.

"1.2 million? That's reasonable, not too expensive," Larry said nonchalantly, as if the amount meant nothing to him.

"Reasonable? Not too expensive? Pfft!" The salespeople stifled their laughter again.

Daniel sneered. "Larry, do you even understand how much 1.2 million is?"

"Of course I do. It's just a small amount," Larry replied indifferently.

"What? A small amount? Hahaha!"

The salespeople and Daniel finally burst into laughter.

A guy in shabby clothes saying a million was a small amount? It was the biggest joke they had ever heard.

Daniel couldn't hold back anymore.

"Larry, you're really good at pretending. You say it's a small amount? Fine, show me the money! If you can pay for the car, I, Daniel, will quit my job!"

Daniel thought to himself, "Let's see how you keep pretending!"

"Yeah, show us the money if you can!" The other salespeople echoed.

Larry could see right through Daniel's intentions.

"Can I pay with a card here?"

Larry pulled out his credit card from his pocket.

"That's... a Citibank Black Card!?"

When Larry pulled out the card, the salespeople couldn't help but exclaim.

They recognized the card as Citibank's highest-level VIP card, which required at least ten million in the account to obtain. They had seen wealthy customers use this card before.

Daniel was stunned, feeling as if a bucket of cold water had been poured over him, making him numb from head to toe.

Holding that card meant Larry was definitely not a poor kid but a wealthy individual!

"1.2 million, swipe the card! I won't bargain, I don't need to," Larry handed the card to Daniel.

"You... you..."

Daniel stared at Larry like he was seeing a ghost. He never dreamed Larry could pull out a black card.

"What are you waiting for? Take the card!" Larry frowned.

"Y-yes!"

Daniel took the card with trembling hands, his face pale.

At this moment, he wouldn't dare show any disrespect towards Larry.

Daniel hurriedly ran to the manager's office with the card.

Larry turned his gaze to the other salespeople.

They were all pale and lowered their heads, not daring to meet Larry's eyes. After all, they had mocked him earlier.

They couldn't imagine how they would handle it if someone holding a black card sought revenge.

A minute later.

A middle-aged man with a large belly came out quickly.

"Mr. Hermes, welcome to our dealership!" The middle-aged man greeted warmly.

"Welcome? Haha, no one offered me a seat or a drink. From the moment I walked in, your salespeople mocked me. Is that what you call a warm welcome?" Larry sneered.

The manager's face turned dark.

"What are you all doing? How dare you neglect our distinguished guest? Apologize immediately!" The manager scolded the salespeople.

"Mr. Hermes, we're sorry! We're sorry!"

The salespeople quickly apologized.

The manager continued, "All of you, your bonuses for this year are canceled! Don't just stand there, get our guest some coffee!"

"Yes, sir!" The salespeople quickly nodded and ran off.

At this moment, Daniel returned, holding the card, his face filled with fear.

"Daniel, did you swipe the card?" Larry asked calmly.

"Yes, it's done. 1.2 million, successfully charged!" Daniel handed the card back to Larry with trembling hands.

Daniel's mind was in turmoil. He couldn't believe that the once insignificant Larry had turned into a wealthy man. Although he couldn't understand how Larry did it, it was an undeniable fact.

Of course, Daniel was filled with fear and anxiety.

Larry took the card and said, "Daniel, if I remember correctly, you said that if I could pay 1.2 million, you'd quit your job, right?"

Daniel's face twitched. He thought, "Is Larry really going to make me keep my word? I worked hard to get this job at Lamborghini."

"Larry, I was just joking," Daniel forced a smile.

"Really? And the mockery and ridicule you directed at me, were those jokes too? Do you think I'm a fool?" Larry sneered.

Daniel was terrified. He realized Larry, now wealthy, was not someone he could mess with. If Larry said a word, he'd lose his job.

"Larry, I was wrong! I apologize! For the sake of our college days, please forgive me!" Daniel pleaded.

"Sorry, we weren't close even in college. Don't try to use that," Larry sneered.

Then Larry looked at the manager. "Manager, I don't want to see this person again."

"No problem!" The manager smiled and nodded.

Turning to Daniel, he scolded, "Daniel, you're fired. Get out immediately!"

"F-fired?!"

Daniel felt like he had fallen into an abyss.

He had worked hard to get this good job, and now it was gone?

He deeply regretted his actions. If only he hadn't mocked Larry and had instead treated him well, things would be different.

The manager called a security guard to escort Daniel out.

Inside the dealership.

"I've paid. Can I take the car now?" Larry asked the manager.

"Mr. Hermes, there are some procedures to complete. We'll handle them, and you can take the car tomorrow," the manager smiled.

"Alright, have it delivered to me once it's ready. I'm leaving now," Larry said indifferently.

"No problem! I'll see you out, Mr. Hermes." The manager smiled and escorted Larry out.
