Chapter 87 - Divine Domain

Li Jing was shocked and slumped down in her chair. "What is happening to the world? How did someone remove my memories?"

Lin Xiao remained silent, listening to her rambling. Suddenly, Li Jing stopped and looked at him. "How do you have a mid-level domain?"

Lin Xiao was confused. "Mid-level domain? What's that?"

Li Jing explained, "Domains are divided into ranks: low-level domain, mid-level domain, high-level domain, and then divine domain. What you had before was a low-level domain, but what you used on me was a mid-level domain."

Lin Xiao was shocked; he didn't know that. He calmed himself down, thought of an excuse, and explained, "I don't know. I was sleeping one day, and suddenly I had an epiphany, and my domain became stronger."

Li Jing looked at him, speechless. "You might be the most talented superpower user I have ever seen. I don't know how those geniuses from the capital city compare to you, but you are definitely better than some of them."

"Thank you," Lin Xiao said, feeling a mix of pride and anxiety. His abilities were growing all due to the system, but so were the mysteries surrounding them, like the person who looked just like him erasing Li Jing's memories. He then asked, "How do you define the different ranks of domains?"

Li Jing explained, "It's due to the color and diameter of the domain. The color is stronger and the diameter is bigger in higher-level domains."

Lin Xiao nodded, taking it all in. "What about the divine domain?"

Li Jing sighed and looked at him. "Personally, for me, it's like a myth because I've never seen someone with a divine domain. But people say the ancestors of the capital city families all have divine domains."

Lin Xiao was shocked. "What is this divine domain?"

Li Jing explained, "According to legends, a divine domain is something you get after you truly master your powers and then accept the baptism of the world. After that, your domain becomes divine. In the domain, you can do anything. It is related to your imagination. You can't create anything out of nothing, though. Basically, you will no longer be restricted to your superpower; you can have any power you want in the domain."

Lin Xiao was shocked. "That's too powerful."

"Yes, it is," Li Jing agreed. "But it's also incredibly rare. The path to achieving a divine domain is fraught with challenges, and many don't even believe it truly exists."

Lin Xiao sat back, his mind racing with possibilities. if a divine domain was real and achievable, it could be the key to understanding and solving the mysteries he was facing. But for now, he needed to focus on what was within his grasp.

"Alright," Lin Xiao said. "We need to gather more information and figure out our next steps. I'll keep monitoring the forums, and we should reach out to other superpower users who might have insights. We need to be prepared for whatever comes next."

However, Li Jing's expression was troubled. She looked at him, a hint of fear in her eyes. "I don't think we should get involved in that kind of stuff," she said, her voice trembling slightly.

Lin Xiao was shocked. "What happened?"

Li Jing looked down, her hands trembling slightly. "I'm afraid," she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. "What if what we are getting into might get us killed? I... I still have so much to do. You are still young, Lin Xiao."

Lin Xiao felt a pang of fear himself, but then he remembered the system mission and steeled himself. "Teacher, we're already involved. It's better to learn more about what's happening to the world; otherwise, we won't even know what killed us."

Li Jing looked at Lin Xiao, her eyes reflecting the internal battle she was fighting. She remembered that her memories had been tampered with, the symbol on the sun, and the mysterious face on the moon. She sighed deeply, realizing that Lin Xiao was right. They were already entangled in this web of mystery.

"You're right," she said finally, her voice firmer. "We're already involved, and pretending otherwise won't protect us. We need to find out what's happening, for our own safety and for everyone else."

Li Jing sat up and said, "You go back home, Lin Xiao. I will conduct the investigation. I'll let you know if something comes up."

Lin Xiao wanted to participate in the investigation too, but Li Jing didn't let him. "You're still young and have to go to school. Let the adults handle the dirty stuff."

Reluctantly, Lin Xiao nodded and left her office. As he walked out of the military base, he couldn't shake the feeling of frustration and helplessness. He wanted to be part of the solution, to uncover the mysteries and protect those he cared about.

Once outside, he took a deep breath, trying to clear his mind.

He looked back at the eerily quiet military base, feeling a sense of determination swell within him. "If she won't let me participate, I will conduct my own investigation," he muttered to himself. This was his first main mission, and he couldn't afford to fail it.

Lin Xiao walked back to the bus station and boarded the bus heading home. As the bus trundled through the city streets, he began to plan his next steps.

He would continue monitoring the S.A.P.I. forums for any new information, but he also needed to think outside the box.

Maybe there were other sources of knowledge or people he could reach out to.

When he finally arrived home, he found Xiao Bai and Lil'blackie waiting for him at the door, their eyes full of curiosity. "Xiao Xiao, what did you find out?" Xiao Bai asked, his tail flicking with excitement. Lil'blackie, more serious, simply looked up at him, waiting for an answer.

"Not much," Lin Xiao admitted, bending down to pet them. "But I have a plan. We need to gather more information, and I'm not going to let this mission slip through my fingers."
