Chapter 85 - Scan

Seeing Li Jing a little sad, Lin Xiao decided to change the topic. He asked quietly, almost as if sharing a secret, "Do we really not know what caused the moon to change?"

Li Jing responded without hesitation, "No, we don't."

Before Lin Xiao could speak further, Li Jing added something that shocked him even more. "We don't even know what that weird face on the moon was yesterday."

Lin Xiao's eyes widened in surprise. "Weird face? What are you talking about?"

Li Jing looked puzzled. "Did you not see the weird face on the moon?"

Lin Xiao shook his head, still processing. "No. What are you talking about?"

Li Jing explained, "At around 3 AM, after the moon turned back to normal, there was a phenomenon where some superpower users saw a strange face appear on the moon. Unfortunately, I wasn't one of them because I went to sleep. The stress was just too much."

Lin Xiao's mind raced. "I went to sleep too," he said, feeling a strange mix of relief and frustration.

Li Jing sighed. "I wish I could give you more information, but we're all in the dark about this. The face only appeared for a brief moment, but those who saw it said it looked human but not entirely human at the same time."

Lin Xiao frowned, deep in thought. "So, the red moon, red energy, and now a mysterious face on the moon. This is getting more and more complicated."

"Exactly," Li Jing agreed. "And without more information, we can't form a clear strategy."

Lin Xiao nodded, his mind racing with possibilities. "Maybe we can find someone who saw the face and get more details from them,"

Li Jing agreed but added, "That's a good idea, but it will take a lot of time and resources. I think we should do something else."

Lin Xiao thought for a moment and then said, "I have an idea." He asked Li Jing for a laptop.

Li Jing replied, "I don't have a laptop, but you can use my PC if you want."

Lin Xiao quickly got on the PC and opened up the S.A.P.I. When Li Jing saw that, her eyes shone with approval. "Nice one, we can use S.A.P.I. to find someone who saw that weird face."

Lin Xiao navigated through the forums, searching for any posts or mentions of the face on the moon. They came across a thread where a few users were discussing the strange phenomenon. One user, "MoonSeer82," claimed to have seen the face in detail.

"Look, this user seems to have a detailed account," Lin Xiao pointed out.

Li Jing leaned in, reading over his shoulder. "Message them and ask for more information."

Lin Xiao quickly typed a message to MoonSeer82:

XiaoXiao6: "Hey, I saw your post about the face on the moon. Can you share more details about what you saw? It's really important."

They waited anxiously for a reply. After a few minutes, a response popped up.

MoonSeer82: "Sure, I can help. The face appeared for a split second. It looked almost human but had an eerie, otherworldly quality to it. i think we are all going to die,"

Lin Xiao was shocked by MoonSeer82's last sentence but decided to ignore it for now and ask more questions about the face. He quickly typed another message.

XiaoXiao6: "Oh. Can you tell me more about the face? Any distinguishing features or anything that stood out to you?"

MoonSeer82: "It had glowing red eyes and a twisted smile. The expression was almost mocking, like it was laughing at us. And there was a strange symbol on its forehead, something I couldn't quite make out. It looked ancient, almost like a rune."

Lin Xiao felt a chill run down his spine. He glanced at Li Jing, who was reading the messages intently. "This is getting creepier by the minute," he said.

Li Jing was shocked, "I didn't know that,"

Li Jing sighed and added. "We need to figure out what that symbol means. It might be a clue to what's going on."

Lin Xiao sent another message to MoonSeer82.

XiaoXiao6: "Do you remember what the symbol looked like? Any details could help us a lot."

There was a brief pause before MoonSeer82 replied.

MoonSeer82: "It was hard to see clearly, but it looked like a circle with lines radiating from it, almost like a sun. But the lines were jagged, not smooth. I'm sorry I can't be more precise; it was only visible for a split second."

Lin Xiao thanked MoonSeer82 for the information and leaned back in his chair, deep in thought. "A symbol like a sun with jagged lines... Does that mean anything to you, Li Jing?"

Li Jing frowned, considering the description. "It sounds vaguely familiar, but I can't place it," she said, rubbing her forehead. "Where have I seen it? Why can't I remember?"

Suddenly, Li Jing's eyes widened in shock. "Wait, yeah, why can't I remember? I have perfect control over my memory. I even remember what it was like in the womb. Why can't I remember that symbol?"

Lin Xiao was taken aback, her rambling adding a new layer of mystery to the situation. "Are you sure you can't remember?" he asked, his voice filled with concern.

Li Jing nodded, her expression a mix of frustration and confusion. "Yes, I'm sure. It's like there's a block in my mind. Every time I try to think about it, my thoughts just... stop."

Lin Xiao's mind raced with possibilities. "Do you think it could be some kind of mental block or interference? Maybe something or someone is preventing you from accessing that memory."

Li Jing's eyes narrowed. "It's possible," she said, her voice trailing off as she considered the implications.

Lin Xiao hesitated before speaking. "Maybe I can use my memory manipulation power to scan your memories," he suggested.

Li Jing's initial reaction was one of hesitation. She shook her head. "No," she said firmly. The thought of Lin Xiao delving into her mind, seeing her intimate details, her secrets, every mole, every freckle—she couldn't bear it.

But Lin Xiao pressed on. "This might be our chance to find out what's happening. Maybe you should reconsider."

Li Jing stood silent for a moment, caught in a daze. She knew Lin Xiao was right. The need for answers outweighed her personal discomfort.

With a heavy sigh, she relented. "Okay, you can scan my memories," she said reluctantly.
