Chapter 82 - Map?

He grabbed his laptop and began searching through online forums and databases, hoping to find any clues.

He logged into S.A.P.I., the Supernatural Association Private Internet, a hub where superpower users shared information and discussed various phenomena.

Lin Xiao saw a range of reactions to the red moon. Some users were confused, posting questions and speculations about what could be causing the strange phenomenon.

"Has anyone else noticed the red moon? What do you think it means?" one user asked, accompanied by a blurry photo of a normal-looking moon.

Others were clearly terrified, predicting dire outcomes. "This is it! The apocalypse is coming!" a user named Doomslayer99 wrote. "Stock up on supplies and prepare for the worst. The red moon is a sign of the end times."

Yet, there were also voices of reassurance. "Everyone, please stay calm," a user named SereneSeer posted. "Everyone, Don't worry, we are also superpower users, we will be fine. Let's not jump to conclusions without concrete evidence."

As Lin Xiao continued browsing, one post in particular caught his attention. It was titled "Prediction of the Red Moon - From Aetheria," and it had hundreds of comments.

The original post read: "A superpower user from Aetheria, known for her ability to predict the future, foresaw the appearance of the red moon. She claims it marks the beginning of a significant shift in our world, but she didn't specify whether it's good or bad. Many people here in Aetheria are preparing for the worst, but some believe it could be an opportunity for growth and change."

The comments were a mix of skepticism and curiosity:

"Future predictions are always vague. This doesn't prove anything."

"Why didn't he provide more details? This feels like a hoax."

"I'm from Aetheria, and I can confirm that people are taking this prediction seriously. We need to be cautious."

Lin Xiao was intrigued but also skeptical. Predictions were often shrouded in ambiguity, and it was hard to determine their validity.

He decided to keep browsing other forums to gather more perspectives and information.

Lin Xiao browsed for a while but found nothing that could help him understand the red moon. Frustrated, he closed the laptop.

The only thing he knew for sure was that the energy from the moon felt eerily similar to the crystal, which had transformed into a portal.

An eerie thought crossed his mind—what if the moon was also turning into a portal? Lin Xiao's heart raced at the idea. If it were true, what would he do? The uncertainty and potential danger left him feeling both shocked and confused.

Suddenly, he felt a tug from behind. It was Xiao Bai and Lil'blackie, his cats. Lin Xiao scooped them up and placed them on his lap.

Xiao Bai, the cute and clumsy one, immediately started purring and kneading his paws into Lin Xiao's thigh.

His wide, innocent eyes looked up at Lin Xiao with a mix of curiosity and confusion.

Xiao Bai's fluffy black fur and pink nose made him look like a little ball of fluff, and his constant clumsiness added to his charm.

Lil'blackie, on the other hand, was sitting in Lin Xiao's lap with a serious but equally cute expression.

Her sleek white fur and sharp, alert eyes gave her an air of seriousness, but her small size and the way she curled up made him endearing.

Lil'blackie always had a protective aura about her, and right now, her gaze was fixed on Lin Xiao, as if trying to understand the situation.

Xiao Bai spoke first, his voice soft and curious. "Xiao Xiao, what is happening? Why is the moon red? It looks tasty for some reason."

Before Lin Xiao could respond, Lil'blackie smacked Xiao Bai lightly with his paw. "Stop being a foodie," he scolded. Then, turning to Lin Xiao, he asked, "Xiao Xiao, don't worry about him. What is happening though? Why is the moon red?"

Lin Xiao took a deep breath, feeling a bit more grounded with his furry companions by his side. "I'm not entirely sure," he admitted, stroking Xiao Bai's soft fur while Lil'blackie watched intently. "The moon's energy feels like the crystal's, and you know what happened with that. I'm worried it could turn into a portal or something even more dangerous."

Xiao Bai's eyes widened even more. "A portal? Like the one we went to?"

Lin Xiao nodded. "Yes, it looks like it might be another portal."

Xiao Bai was visibly shaken. "But last time... last time we went to a portal, we lost you!"

Lil'blackie patted him on the back with her paws, her serious face softening slightly. "Xiao Bai, don't worry. It will be fine. We are stronger now, and we'll face this together."

Lin Xiao smiled at Lil'blackie's attempt to comfort Xiao Bai. "She's right. We've been through a lot, and we've come out stronger each time. We'll figure this out too."

Xiao Bai took a deep breath, nodding. "Okay, Xiao Xiao. I trust you. We trust you."

Lin Xiao sighed, feeling the weight of the situation pressing down on him again. "For now, I need to gather more information and stay alert. I'll have to talk to Li Jing and see if the military base has any new insights. And... I'll need your help too."

Xiao Bai nodded enthusiastically, nearly toppling off Lin Xiao's lap in his eagerness. "We're with you, Xiao Xiao!"

Lil'blackie gave a firm nod, his serious demeanor unwavering. "We'll do whatever it takes to keep you safe and find out what's going on."

Lin Xiao was confused about what he should do next. Feeling overwhelmed, he decided to ask the system for guidance. "System, can you help or something? I don't know how to proceed with this mission."

The system's response was prompt.

Hearing that, Lin Xiao quickly opened the map. As the virtual layout unfolded before him, he gasped in shock.
