Chapter 27 - Steps in creating a promotional event (1)

Emily and Bryan, each paid 52 coins at the end of their requested 2-library session while the arrogant third wheel, Caleb had only paid 50 gold coins, being that he was the only who didn't get a taste of the Devil's Archive special.

"I won't come here with you two next time," Caleb whined as the three of them left the Archive.

"We need to talk about your bad attitude, Mr," Emily hmphed and walked ahead, leaving Bryan to run after her.

' What dramatic boy,' Emmet thought and shut the door of the Archive.

Gilbert and his friend were still in the library and they had thirty minutes left before the 2-library session they had paid for would expire.

Time flew by quickly and thirty minutes had soon come to an end.

"This book is really good. I had thought I could finish it within 2-library sessions," Gilbert sulked, knowing fully well that he couldn't spend all day in a library.

"If that's the case, I'll just buy it," He added, much to Emmet's satisfaction.

"That'll cost 50 gold coins," Emmet relayed to him as the system had dictated.

"Pretty cheap," Gilbert smiled and reached for his pouch. "Your prices really do know how to pity my wallet."

Emmet chuckled at his words.

"I'm glad to know that you feel comfortable with patronizing the Devil's Archive," He slightly bowed his head.

Just as Gilbert reached for his pouch, so did his friend reach for his own. Gilbert paid off 100 gold coins for the 2-library session and for buying the book he had been reading while his friend paid only 50 gold coins for the sessions.

"Have a good day, my friend," The duo bade the librarian whom escorted them out.

Emmet retired joyfully to his desk and emptied all the coins in his pouch which contained all he had made for the day, onto the table

"1,2,3...25,26,27...."

He counted each gold cold, making sure not to leave a single one out.

"304 gold coins!" He exclaimed after counting the last gold coin. "Plus 200 gold coins in my storage space! Literally money that I own but don't own..."

"Baby steps, sire," Liesl broke through his moment of celebration. "There are other merchants who earn more than a thousand gold coins per day and they started from where you are today. It's a good thing to be excited about even a gold coin you make in this phase of trying to build a foundation in firmness. One day, you'll get to hold that 500 gold coins without having to repay a loan."

"I agree with you," Emmet nodded. "I wish to repay the system the sum of 200 gold coins."

<200 gold coins have been deducted from storage space>

<200 gold coins have been paid back to the system>

' Open storage space.'

[Storage space is currently empty]

' Place 200 gold coins into storage space.'

[200 coins have been placed into storage space]

[Current Storage space content: 200 coins]

[Would you like to add more things to storage space?]

' No.'

He then placed the remaining 104 gold coins into the pouch, satisfied that he was gradually paying off his debt.

So far, being in debt was the scariest thing he had ever experienced and would not wish to experience ever again.

"Back to the idea of creating an event, Liesl," He began.

"Yes, sire. Like I said earlier, events are a way to introduce more customers to your store using smart marketing techniques to make them a patron of the Archive," Liesl answered.

"First of all, what am I supposed to do?" Emmet asked, genuinely interested.

"Come up with an event planning," Liesl stood up on the table and moved in slow circles as if to accompany her words with demonstrations.

[Do you wish to create a promotional event plan?]

'Yes,' Emmet answered.

A file opened up on the screen, with its title as "Promotional event plan created by Emmet Quinn."

He opened the file with his thoughts and a blank page displayed before his eyes.

[Please outline your promotional event plan]

"This is to help you, not only to organize the event but also to help you keep track of the plans you will make, how and when you will need to implement them," Liesl pointed out.

Emmet nodded and placed his sole focus on the blank page.

"So what do I want this event to be about?" He asked Liesl to be sure once more.

"What you want its theme to be? How you want to hold it? How you plan to make the guests at the event evolve into customers of the Devil's Archive? What you plan to set out in the event to allow the guest to get to know what the Devil's Archive is all about and how it can ensure them the customer satisfaction and experience they want," The cat explained.

Emmet nodded once again.

With a deep breath and a long sigh, he retired to using his thoughts to interact with the system.

' The Devil's Archive has been around for a few days and has luckily been able to attract the attention of few people. However, creating a promotional event plan is a step to opening the Archive to a larger scale of patrons. In this event, I plan to educate customers through short yet fulfilling and entertaining seminars. Discounts on book prices and library sessions is a tactic I have witnessed being featured in other stores in my past life and I think it will only make sense I apply such knowledge in this area...'

As he was interacting with the system, his words started filling the blank page and even more space was created for more of his words.

Although, there were times when he ran short of something to say and Liesl would indirectly inject scenarios into his mind and he would know where to continue from.

"You have done pretty well, sire," The cat sounded impressed. "However, I have just one contribution."

Emmet paid close attention to her next line of words.

"I suggest that this event should be split into three days. Due to guest slots that apply when creating events , especially when the store isn't big enough, it would be best to make out turns for several groups of guests to participate in the event," She said, using her paws to cast imaginary drawings in the air.

[What would you like to name your Promotional event?]

"Wait, this calls for critical thinking," Emmet clicked his tongue, staring hard at the screen. "The Devil's Archive's promotional event? No...too straightforward."

"The Devil's Archive's promotional ceremony...Bad idea."

"The event Emmet Quinn presents... Definitely not."

"The event that will change your life...Man, I suck at this."

"Ok, one last time. The ceremony that promotes the Devil's Archive... I'm not getting the words right."

After a few more attempts, he held his head in frustration.

"You don't rush," Liesl reminded him. "You think, put the words together and discover."

' Not that word, discover,' He thought to himself.

He heaved a sigh and proceeded to think critically. What would he name the event?

' The Devil's Archive: Opening the gates of knowledge.'
