As early as the sun appeared from behind the mountains, he rose up eager to start the day ahead.
Before he did anything, he reached across the room for the cupboard at a corner.
He drew the first one out and took out his pouch. After which, he poured out its contents in his left palm.
"I only have a 100 left," He said. "It definitely wouldn't last me for such a leap I'm about to take."
"You do not need to worry, Sire. I have the important things under control," Liesl's voice rang out in his head.
Having agreed to the words of the shape-shifter, he proceed to get himself ready.
"In this world of humans, getting early on time for journeys is the right thing to do," Liesl had said.
Once he was ready, he got out of his room to learn that his mother was up early as usual. She always got up in the early mornings just so she could monitor him from the start of the day to the end.
Even at night, she woke up occasionally to check up on him with the belief that if she didn't he would go out into the night to torment the souls of people.
She had numerous crazy beliefs about him, a majority of which he had come to learn of since he brought Liesl into the house.
"You're up this early," Maria came up to her son's room door as soon as she heard the sounds coming from it.
"I leave today," He simply said and walked past her.
"Where are you leaving to?" She followed him from behind, wide-eyed.
He didn't respond and kept on walking till they were out of the house.
She remained on the front porch while he moved a desired distance ahead before halting in his tracks.
Wisps of shadows emerged from the ring on his finger and settled on his left shoulder to form a black cat with green eyes. The cat turned its head in her direction, staring hard and long at her with its big green eyes.
"Liesl?" Maria took a step backwards out of fear.
A black portal suddenly opened up in front of Emmet but he didn't go through immediately.
"I wish you the best life you want. A life free from the clutches of the devil you fear," He said with a lack of interest in his tone.
"I truly brought a demon into the world," were the last words he heard from his mother before he allowed his body to be sucked in by the raging portal.
He knew she wouldn't stop him since she had always seen him like a burden. Even though she never actually made mention of her fear and hatred for him, her actions told of it all.
She wouldn't stop him because she would be free from the stigma and fear that accompanied being the "mother of the devil."
[Emeria: Famous city known for its lush buildings and lands of greenery with an emphasis on eco-friendly technologies. It is well one of the areas known to be successful for those willing to develop a trade or small business.]
He had to blink his eyes severally before it was able to adjust to the lights of his new surroundings.
"Where exactly are we in Emeria?" Emmet inquired from awe.
"In the open streets of the city. People walk to and fro to their destinations," Liesl explained.
It reminded him of the world he had come from. Flying ships moved about and other scientific objects were seen moving across the streets. Tall buildings were in sight from both far and near and the lush grasses that decorated the streets called for another moment of appreciation.
"Are we still on Earth?" Emmet proceeded to inquire.
"Yes. Emeria is seen as the future of Earth. Earth has now reached the 99th century and Emeria has grown to be one of the places with the most technological advancements. However, not all areas on Earth have been fully affected by the scientific change of the 99th century as the barrier in financial status has called for such change to take places in some and be absent in other places like the place you grew up in," Liesl explained. "However, in spite of all this, the Earth seemed to undergo a revolution before the 99th century. Technology advanced since it never had a foundation in the beginning of humanity but humans and their way of living revolved. That explains why the humans of this 99th century live in buildings with ancient touch and robes and clothing from many centuries back."
"That explains a lot," He nodded.
Although he couldn't get over the fact that Emeria was similar to the world he had known in his past life.
As he walked further into the crowd of pedestrians, he soon attracted the attention of many eyes. They walked and stared but made no signs with their bodies.
"I believe it would be best if we talked through telepathy. We would not wish to attract the attention of people," Liesl said to him.
"Very well," He nodded.
' Liesl, are there mages in this 99th century? ' He thought.
' Yes sire. However, just like I previously explained, only areas like Emeria can mages and even swordsmen be found,' Liesl replied.
"Hey mister!"
Emmet turned around in response to the voices and little hands that tugged at his ankle-length leather jacket.
His eyes fell on three kids of similar heights.
"What do you smallish humans want?" He looked at them with lazy eyes.
"Mister, we were having a debate," The little girl among them began.
He raised an eyebrow at them. What had he got to do with their useless debate?
"They say your skin is dark red paint but I think it's blood red paint. What deity are you cosplaying?" The girl continued.
A smirk pulled up on his lips and he crouched to their level. He held out his right arm and used the hem of his jacket to clean it.
"Red paint?" He showed them the part of his jacket which he had brushed against his skin. "No."
They showed expressions of confusion and doubts.
"Run along little ones. You do not want me to drag you back to hell with me," A devious smile played on his lips.
"Why did you children run off?" Two women emerged from the opposite direction and quickly gathered the three to themselves.
"Mama, that man has the skin of the devil," One of the boys told his mother but she quickly hushed him and the women scurried off with the children.
"They're the same everywhere," He scoffed. "I am the devil in their eyes."
' Now sire, it is time to locate a space for you to start up,' Liesl continued. ' What job would you like to invest in?'
The system's screen appeared before Emmet's eyes with a list of small businesses he could start up in Emeria. Each of the businesses had a rank beside them, showing which of them were the most successful.
Emmet's eyes skimmed through the list as he walked, unsure of what he would like to start up. Besides he had no knowledge of a trade but Liesl was insistent that he sought for one.

In spite of how attractive and lucrative the top trades appeared, he didn't feel inclined to any of them.
But there was something about a low popularity trade that piqued his interest for a reason he couldn't understand. Perhaps it was because he had come to admire and appreciate literary works.
