Diaval sat at his desk, the weight of the ring in his hand pulling him into a whirlpool of memories.

Tears welled up as he thought back to the day he had proposed to Eva.

The memory was vivid: the moon casting a warm glow over the room, Eva's radiant smile as he had slipped the ring onto her finger, and the joy in her eyes when she had said yes.

Now, clutching the ring, Diaval slipped it onto his small finger.

"If I ever find you again," he whispered, his voice cracking, "I'll put this ring back on you, no matter what it takes."

Determined to uncover any clue that might lead him to Eva, he hurriedly rummaged through the rest of her belongings.

In his haste, he knocked the wooden box off the table.

It hit the floor with a thud, the lid snapping open.

Diaval tensed, cursing under his breath. He bent down to retrieve the scattered items, and as he did, he noticed something unusual about the box.
