Chapter 32 - Chapter 32 - Remember Me

[You have been challenged to a duel by RememberMe Lv. 78!]

A notification popped up in front of Broken, indicating that the warrior was challenging him to a duel.

"You fool!" RememberMe taunted, standing defiantly before him. "Don't tell me you're a coward who runs from a challenge. Do you think you're pretty tough, wandering around alone without any party members? Well, now's your chance to prove your strength."

"Level 78?" Broken muttered under his breath. He wasn't intimidated by the man in front of him. After all, this was just a duel, and there wouldn't be any penalties like when a player kills another player.

He was confident he could win despite his opponent's level. He had Polly, who was incredibly reliable in battle and higher level than him. He also possessed several skills that could be used in combos, dealing significant damage when executed perfectly.

But he wasn't interested in dueling. He didn't want to entertain those toxic players, he wouldn't gain anything from it.

"What a waste of time," he said, passing the man and continuing to walk away.

In Immortal Legacy, players can engage in a mini-game called dueling. This is available to everyone and allows players to fight against each other without the risk of death. This rule applies to all participants, whether they are individual players, parties, or guilds. After the duel, the losers do not suffer any consequences such as losing experience or levels. Additionally, before the fight begins, both parties can make bets if they both agree. These bets can include coins, weapons, or any other items that are mutually decided upon.

RememberMe continued to follow Broken as he strode away, growing irritated at being ignored.

"Accept my challenge to a duel, you fool!" he shouted. "It's pure foolishness to venture into the forest alone, isn't it? You won't survive a minute in there - there's a pack of level 80 monsters waiting."

Broken was taken aback by the man's words. "A level 80 monster?" he murmured. He hadn't expected the monsters in the area to be so high-level.

Monsters in this region used to range between levels 20 and 50, but perhaps the average level of players had increased, causing the monsters' levels to rise as well. Facing a few level 80 monsters might not be an issue for him, but encountering a large group would certainly be problematic.

The mage girl spoke up. "Hey, RememberMe, let him go. You should find a more worthy opponent, you know…"

The archer girl added, "His level can't be that high."

"But he's heading to an area with level 80 monsters. I just want to remind him how foolish he is."

Broken was becoming increasingly frustrated as the man kept pushing him to a duel. He stopped and faced the warrior, his voice stern as he asked, "Do you have anything that can make this duel more interesting for me?"

"What? Do you think you can dodge my challenge by being condescending? Is there something you'd be willing to risk to balance the bet? What do you have? Your clothes look so worn. Do you have any coins? Ha ha ha... You should be thankful I'm offering you this duel, so you can get a glimpse of how a high-level fighter fights." RememberMe replied, his voice dripping with arrogance.

Broken felt compelled to teach the warrior a lesson, especially since the two female players in the warrior's party did not seem to support his behavior. Broken even felt a strong urge to kill the warrior. However, he knew it was best to avoid getting involved in player killing at the moment, given that his level wasn't high enough and he didn't have the necessary equipment to defend himself effectively.

Playing it safe was the best strategy for survival and progression at this point.

Player killing was primarily favored by those wanting to snatch resources from other players. However, the more they killed, the more they would be recognized with a red flag, making them potential targets for attacks from other players without any penalty.

Broken drew his sword, gripping it firmly with his right hand. "I accept your duel challenge, and whoever loses will become the victor's slave for the next 24 hours, doing whatever the victor asks." He pointed at the two female players. "They will be witnesses to this agreement."

In duels, the reward for the winner could be declared as slavery, meaning the losing player would be penalized if they disobeyed their master's commands, as per the game's system. However, there were certain limitations, such as ensuring the commands were reasonable.

RememberMe took one look at Broken's sword and could barely contain his laughter.

"With a weapon like that, you had the audacity to accept my challenge. It seems that the contents of your head are as broken as your name," he replied confidently. "I didn't think that with your tattered weapon, you would arrogantly surrender yourself to be my slave, hahaha…"

"I'll buy him a sword, what do you think?" the mage girl suggested.

"I think that's a good idea. At least the duel will be fairer," the archer girl agreed.

"Ha! I could defeat him without using my armor," RememberMe scoffed.

The mage girl walked over to Broken, smiling at him. "Hey, are you sure you want to accept his challenge? He doesn't have any sense, and I can't imagine what he would do if you lost and became his slave for the next 24 hours," she said.

Broken returned the mage girl's smile. "Thanks for your concern, but I'll face him fairly."

"You don't need to show kindness to a stranger, PussyCat. This is so annoying. Come fight me, Broken!" RememberMe demanded.

Broken accepted the challenge from RememberMe, and a symbol of two clashing swords immediately appeared between them, indicating they were now in a duel mode.

At that moment, RememberMe noticed Broken's level from the system, "Level 26?" He turned to Broken with a smirk.

Broken muttered under his breath, "I forgot that he would find out my level."
