Chapter 1 - A maniac's reincarnation

(Chapter 0)

I clenched my sword, sweat dripping from my hands. A large wolf-like monster stood in front of me. It towered over me, saliva dripping from its mouth. My sword shook in my hands. I charged in, scrapping the monster with my sword. I managed to draw blood, but that was it.

The monster charged towards me again, and it's jaw was hanging open. It bit me in the arm, taring it away from my body. A burning feeling came from my wound, though I ignored it. Gripping my sword with my left hand, I stabbed the creature in the jaw. It let out a loud yowl.

A bright blue box popped up in front of me. 'I guess that nightwolf wasn't as tough as I thought it'd be' I thought. Blood poured out from the monster's wound. It's howl echoing throughout the cave. With that, its body went limp. I stepped over the giant creature and then checked my status window.

'I guess my training didn't pay off as much as I thought it would' I thought as I reached for my daggers, replacing my training sword. The blue engravements on the two daggers looked like waves. The bright blue perfectly complemented the black daggers.

(Chapter 1)

"Beginning today, we'll be learning about how to harness a black hole's energy. First, can anyone tell me where the mass goes once it has entered a black hole?" Asked our teacher, Mrs. Holcum. No one dared to raise their hand, knowing how harsh she is on those who answered wrong.

I yawned, placing my head inside my folded arms. I looked out the window. Snow began to fall from the sky. 'Finnaly, when was the last time I've seen snow?' I thought. The people in charge of weather programming recently had to deal with a small virus, but still, couldn't they have fixed it sooner?

"Rein, why don't you answer?" Asked our teacher. 'Huh? Oh... right' I thought. My open textbook wasn't on the page we were studying. In fact, I hadn't been paying attention most of this class. "Black holes radiate energy which is stored in the outer ring" I said.

"And how do we collect this energy?" Asked the teacher. "By using energy-absorbent drones known as nanites" I said. The teacher calmly nodded her head. She drew her attention back to the blackboard. Though I hadn't been paying attention, I was lucky enough to hear her last sentence.

-After class-

I dropped my school backpack upon entering my apartment room. I walked over to the window, ignoring the mess left by my open bag as the contents spilled across the floor. Opening the window, I leaned over the edge, feeling the cold breeze blow across my face.

"The hardest part of life is that there's always someone who'll betray you" I muttered, closing the window agian. "If I tell you a secret, I expect you to keep it. So, why is that such a hard thing to do?" I muttered, walking over to the kitchen counter. "Don't tell me things like 'I didn't want to'" I said.

I picked up a knife that had been lying on the counter. "Y'know what, why should I care about people in the first place?" I said, drawing the kife closer and closer to my neck. "It's not like people are perfect. They'll always do things you didn't plan for" I said, plunging the knife into my neck.

Blood dripped from my wound, pouring all over the kitchen counter. The knife dropped from my hands, tumbling onto the blood-soaked carpet. My body began to feel weak from bloodloss, and it became hard to breathe. My body became cold as I collapsed to the ground.

My vision began to blur before eventually blacking out... I was dead. My bright blue eyes fadded into a bluish-gray as life left my body. The blood-stained knife still sat on the blood-soaked carpet, such a convenient place to have dropped. No one will wonder how I died. They'll know.

...

Once I came too, I found myself laying on an unfamiliar bed. I found myself staring at an unfamiliar ceiling. I sat up, a smirk flashing across my face. "Why would I think that would be the end? Of course there's a round two. God loves me so..." I muttered to myself.

My voice was unfamiliar to me, so I could only assume that I had reincarnated. Of course I had. Just when I thought I could be done with people, I had to go and get a second chance. Still, it wasn't like I would waste this opportunity. I could live without social interactions... right?

I rubbed my hand across my neck. To my surprise, a scar was left there. 'I guess this body has seen its fair share of troubles' I thought to myself, looking down at my calloused hands. 'I wonder if this world has things like magic...' I thought, silently laughing at the fact I'd gotten my hopes up.

The door slowly creaked open. "Master, your dinner's ready for you" said a small girl with bubblegum-pink hair. "Thanks..." I said, though I was too lost in thought to notice her worried expression. "Is something wrong?" I asked once I finally snapped out of my thoughts.

"O-oh! Nothing, master!" Said the small girl, who scurried off. She closed the door behind her. "Hah! People are just as weird in this life as they were in my previous" I said to myself, then began to take in my surroundings. I was sitting in what looked like someone's room.

A sudden pain flashed through my heart as it began to pound so loud that it seemed to reverberate through my entire body. A splitting headache came along with it, along with something strange... some sort of tingling sensation seemed to race throughout my entire body.

All the scars I had earned during my previous life seemed to move onto this body. Along with that, something seemed to enter my bloodstream. 'What's going on here...?' I thought as I swallowed back blood. An overwhelming pressure seemed to crush me from the inside out.

I opened and closed my hands, trying to make sure this body was really my own. Though the scars had transferred over, all the rest of my body stayed the same as it had when I first woke up. I tried to focus on whatever it was that had entered my bloodstream.

As I did, a faint aura seemed to envelope my body. A dark blue mist surrounded it, my palms glowed bright blue as I clenched them. 'Looks like Magic really is a thing. So this must be mana' I thought. Deciding to take a shot in the dark, I tried to pull up a status window.

Tapping on the Notifications icon, a smaller box seemed to appear right in front of the first. 'Wow. This really is like some sort of anime or novel. How come I can't see things like Stat points? Shouldn't I have some absurd skill or something? Well, I really don't care either way' I thought.

Message: Welcome to our world, Rein! You have been selected to be one of this world's... villans... We thought the role would suit you well with your personality and all. Hope you have fun, and always remember to cause a lot of chaos! -God

[End of messages]

...

'This God sure has a funny sense of humor, don't they? Well, it's not like I have any complaints about becoming a villain. After all, causing chaos sounds pretty fun. This God knows me all too well. In any case, let's check out this 'beginner dungeon'' I thought.

I had been mentally unstable in my previous life, which is why it took so little to drive me to suicide. Actually, it was surprising that I lived as long as I did. Because of this, I knew the dungeon wouldn't break me mentally. After all, it's hard to break something that's already broken.

I clicked the link. With that, the world began to swirl all around me. Before I knew it, I had entered the begginer labyrinth. A huge monster loomed over me. I focused on the strange substance-that I'll call mana-that was flowing through my body. 'So... how do I cast a spell?' I thought.

It didn't matter, though. I punched the monster with all the force I could muster. It seemed the mana enforced my arm because the blow was much more powerful than it would've been in my previous life. The monster grunted, though the punch didn't do much damage.

Actually, I think it saw me as an easy meal now. Before, it was wary of me. Now, it just wanted to kill me. Simple, right? With its gaurd lowered, I'd just have to land an attack on its eye. Unfortunately, it seemed this momster could also use mana. The bull-like monster prepared to charge.

I dodged its initial attack but didn't want to wait for another. I punched it in the head, though it didn't do anything at all this time. The bull charged at me agian. Unfortunately for it, I have become very adept when it comes to things like agility. Not for any praticular reason, just because it was fun.

Pain wasn't something I could register very easily, so things like stretching my body beyond its limit was the norm for me in my previous life. Now, just the same as it had been, I'd be doing that stuff all over again. The bull charged at me agian. I playfully dodged it.

Before long, we entered what seemed like a dance. The bull couldn't land an attack on me, and I couldn't manage to damage it. Now, it was just a matter of endurance. I have no clue how long this body will hold out, so I assumed I was at a disadvantage. Though if my agility transfered over, what else did?

If my stamina had, then I'd be set. However, I didn't want to bank on that prospect. The bull charged at me again. I dodged it agian. The cycle continued until it rammed its horns against one of the walls that lined this cave-like structure. Stone chipped away, falling to the ground.

Finally, some damage was done. The bull's horn chipped slightly, though not enough for it to be hurt. I took one of the rocks that had chipped from the wall. I threw it at the bull, knowing full-well it wouldn't do any good. As expected, the rock simply bounced off the bull.

I picked it up again, threw it again, picked it up, threw it... the cycle continued. I'm very good at repetitive tasks, so I could go on as long as my body could hold on. The bull eventually got sick of my puny attacks. This time, instead of charging, it decided to stand up on its hind legs.

"Woah! I've never seen a bull do that!" I said with a smile, slowly clapping my hands together as the bull walked towards me. I didn't even try to dodge its attack at this point. This was getting much too fun. It's a huge body plopped down on mine, crushing every bone in my body.

My smile grew wider as I stretched out my limps, pretending I was flying. "W-wow, you sure... are... heavy" I said as the rest of the air escaped from my lungs. My vision began to fade. 'I guess I didn't even try with this life, huh? Well, it was a fun way to go!' I thought.
