Chapter 32 - Detective Harris

"We've got them," Olivia said, her eyes gleaming and handing the flash to John. "You will take this to the police. They'll have no choice but to act. Use it wisely."

John held the flash drive tightly, feeling a mix of relief and apprehension. "Thank you, Olivia. This means everything."

Olivia nodded, her expression serious. "Be careful, John. They're desperate and dangerous. Make sure you go straight to the police station."

John and Mike left Olivia as she traced the way to her place, determined to put an end to the threats. As they rode to the station, the streets seemed eerily quiet. John's mind raced with thoughts of what could happen next.

Suddenly, the siren of a police car blared behind them. John pulled over, and three men and one woman in blue uniforms approached the car. John stepped out to meet them, his heart pounding.

"Good evening," the lead officer said, a tall man with a stern expression. "I'm Officer Blake. We received a tip about suspicious activity involving a young master who said that he owns a new Honda motorcycle, are you Mr. John?"

John glanced at Mike, then back at the officers. "Yes, Officer. I was actually on my way to the station. I have crucial evidence regarding the threats against me."

The woman officer, whose name tag read Officer Ramirez, stepped forward. "Mr. John, is the evidence related to Mr. X-Jay's premises? We've been investigating some leads about that area."

John hesitated. "Mr. X-Jay? No, this is about another matter. But it could be connected to it."

Officer Blake nodded. "Let's not discuss this here. Follow us to the station, and we can go over everything in a secure environment."

John and Mike agreed, following the police car to the station in about 20 minutes. Once inside, they were led to a small, brightly lit room where they met Detective Harris, a middle-aged man with a kind but sharp gaze.

"Mr. John, I'm Detective Harris," he said, extending his hand. "Please, have a seat and tell me everything."

John handed the flash drive to Detective Harris and began explaining the series of events that led him there. Mike chimed in, adding details and supporting John's account. Detective Harris listened intently, occasionally glancing at the screen as he reviewed the evidence on the flash drive.

"This is solid proof," Detective Harris finally said, looking up. "With this, we can issue warrants for George, Rohit, and their associates. But Mr. John, this won't be the end. These people are part of a larger network, and bringing them down will be dangerous."

John nodded. "I understand, Detective. But I can't live in fear anymore. I need to see this through."

Detective Harris smiled faintly. "You're a brave man, Mr. John. We'll provide protection and keep you informed every step of the way or you have to distance, the choice lies in your hands."

As they wrapped up their meeting, the door burst open, and two young men with cameras rushed in, taking rapid photographs. John shielded his face, but it was too late; they had their shots.

"John! Can you comment on the investigation? Are you involved with Mr. X-Jay?" one of them shouted, shoving a microphone towards him.

Officer Ramirez quickly stepped in, guiding the reporters out. "This is a private matter. No comments at this time."

John sighed, feeling the weight of the situation pressing down even harder. As he and Mike prepared to leave the station, John's phone rang. It was Mr. X-Jay.

"John," Mr. X-Jay's voice was calm but urgent. "I've heard about the threats. We need to talk. Can you meet me?"

John glanced at Mike, who nodded. "Sure, Mr. X-Jay. Where should we meet?"

"There's a cafe near the station. I'll text you the address. It's safe," Mr. X-Jay replied before hanging up.

John and Mike made their way to the cafe, feeling a mix of anticipation and anxiety. When they arrived, Mr. X-Jay was already there, sitting at a corner table. He gestured for them to join him.

"John, Mike," Mr. X-Jay greeted them. "I'm glad you could make it. I have information that might help you."

John leaned in, eager to hear more. "What do you know?"

Mr. X-Jay took a deep breath. "I've been monitoring some suspicious activities in my area. It seems there's a connection between the threats you're facing and a larger criminal network." He scanned around and continued.

"They're involved in various illegal activities, including blackmail and extortion. I believe George, and Rohit are just the tip of the iceberg and that's the information I am having."

Mike frowned. "Do you have proof?"

Mr. X-Jay nodded. "I've been gathering data, but it's not enough to take them down. However, if we combine our efforts, we might be able to expose the entire network."

John felt a renewed sense of determination. "I'm in. Let's do this."

Mr. X-Jay smiled. "Good. We'll need to be careful and strategic. But together, we can bring them to justice."

As they left the café, John felt a surge of hope. The battle was far from over, but with allies like Mike, Olivia, and Mr. X-Jay, he knew he could face whatever challenges lay ahead.

The shadows of uncertainty might still linger, but John was ready to confront them head-on, stronger and more resolved than ever before. Actually, he never knew that one day things would go wrong on his way.

As Mike seemed swirled in deep thoughts, John pulled out his phone and dialed Grace's number. Grace had been his trusted employee at the automotive store, handling the day-to-day operations of his business.

"Hey, John," Grace answered, her voice bright and cheerful. "What's up?"

"Grace, I need you to go over the remaining items for the automotive spare parts store acquisition," John said, trying to keep his voice steady. "I want to sell it."

Grace paused for a moment, surprised. "Sell it? Are you sure? I thought you were planning to expand."

"Plans have changed," John replied tersely. "Just get the figures together and let me know the amount. I need this done as soon as possible."

"Okay, I'll get right on it," Grace said, her tone becoming more serious. "But, Mr. John, what about my job? If you sell the store, what happens to me?"

John hesitated, his mind racing. He hadn't considered how his decisions would impact Grace. "We'll talk about that later," he said finally. "Right now, I need you to focus on the numbers."

Grace sighed. "All right, John. I'll get back to you soon."

"Thanks, Grace," John said, ending the call. He felt a pang of guilt for leaving her in uncertainty, but he couldn't deal with that right now. There were more pressing matters at hand.

John put his phone in the pocket and took a deep breath. He knew he was asking a lot from Grace, but he couldn't worry about that now. His mind was racing with the implications of Mr. X-Jay's information. A larger criminal network meant more danger, but also a chance to uncover the truth and put an end to the threats once and for all.

As John and Mike walked back to the station to gather their thoughts and plan their next steps, they were intercepted by Detective Harris.

"Mr. John, Mr. X-Jay has provided us with some preliminary information," Harris said, his tone urgent. "We're coordinating with his sources to expand our investigation."

John nodded. "That's good to hear. We're ready to do whatever it takes."

Detective Harris led them to a more secure conference room, where a detailed map of the city was laid out on the table, marked with various points of interest.

"We've identified several locations tied to this network," Harris explained. "Warehouses, offices, and safe houses. We'll need to monitor these places and gather more intel before we make any moves."

Mike leaned over the map, his finger tracing the lines connecting the locations. "We need to be strategic. Hitting them all at once would spread them thin and prevent them from regrouping."

John agreed. "We should also ensure our own safety. They know who I am and where I live."

Detective Harris assured them. "We'll assign undercover officers to shadow you and provide protection. It's crucial that we act quickly but carefully."

As they finalized their plans, John's phone buzzed again. It was a text from Grace: "I've got the figures. The total amount for the remaining items is $10,000. Are you sure you want to proceed with the sale?"

John replied quickly, confirming his decision. He didn't want to drag Grace into this any further than necessary. As he put his phone away, he felt a renewed sense of urgency. Every moment counted, and they needed to stay one step ahead of their adversaries.

Detective Harris insisted, "Kindly make sure that your moves are secured in every second. To be honest, anything can happen. Don't stay in Greenland again despite our security cover. You have to find a new location.

Mike and John opened their eyes widely. "Indeed I have to move… I don't have a choice because it's not safe here!"
