It was around 3:30 PM in the evening, as I was going home, a guy approached me, out of nowhere
"Saw any suspicious person who is worthy of commiting a crime?"
he asked, his tone was casual but the question was odd, I didn't even knew who this guy was,
"Uh... no."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
As I thought that the conversation ended I began to walk away, muttering to myself 'That was awkward'
"Wait, Please"
I turned around, slightly annoyed but tried to hide it.
"Can you help me?"
"In what?"
"In finding who committed the crime."
"Huh?"
"So mind helping me?"
Confused I asked,
"Wait, why are you asking me out of all the people you could find, and who are you?"
"Kento Sugo, I'm a detective"
"Isn't it your job to find who committed the crime?"
"Well, I have been trying to find it out but I still can't find out who committed it."
As he kept asking I had no choice I sighed and said
"Uh, so basically what crime?"
"Thankyou so much!!" He exclaimed before I even agreed.
"The crime involves a thief stealing 12000 yen, from a house of a couple.
The couple went out and forgot to lock the door so the thief stole 12000 yen."
"Were the couple poor?" I asked.
"From what I have seen I don't think so."
"Then why only 12000 yen?"
"Maybe because he didn't want it to be a big case"
Why did the thief only stole 12000 yen? He could have stole more than this I suppose and why only money?
Didn't he found anything valuable?
"I will show you where the couple's house is"
"I don't have time for that I have to do my assignments"
I didn't actually had any assignments I didn't wanted to go, where that place would be It must be really far, I also didn't wanted to get involved,
so I said this as an excuse
"Please."
"Sorry, No."
"I'll pay you"
After hearing 'I will pay you' I started thinking, 'I am short on money but what will this guy lead me to?'
"How much?"
I actually didn't wanted to say it but as I was short on money my mouth slipped and I said it
"What about 2500 yen?"
He was paying me 2500 yen? He knows the risk right? Even if I go there, nothing will change
so why is he paying me this much? Well... I don't know
I agreed and we went to the house of the couple.

After walking for twenty minutes straight we finally reached the house where the event took place, the so called house was actually an apartment.
It had a green roof and two floors(ground floor and the upper floor) the apartment was a normal looking apartment if I try to imagine
maximum number of people in the apartment would be.... uh... maybe 9? As I was thinking , Sugo said
"This is the place."
Why does it feels like he is the client and I am the detective? Well it does not matter as long as I am getting paid, as I am short on money.
He continued
"Let's take a look inside"
The couple's room were on the next floor, I climbed the stairs and counted 1,2,3,4,5,6.... and so on.
The detective knocked on the door, there was no reply he knocked again and shouted
"Kosei San! It's me Kento Sugo"
Now I think about it based on his appearance, he is probally around his mid thirties. He wore a white shirt, what kind of pant do you call
it? It's kind of a long black pant...
"Coming, please wait,"
A voice came from the room it was a voice of a woman.
The door opened the woman seemed to be in her mid 20s she wore a grey jacket, a white skirt and a spectacle her hair was not long neither short.
As the door opened the detective asked the woman
"Can we take a look inside?"
"Oh, of course why not?"
And as she said that we followed the woman,
we entered the room it had a wardrobe, a bed for 2, a table with a flower pot, a bookshelf with a couple of books and
there was a small kitchen then she started talking
"The money was supposed to be here"
She pointed at the wardrobe
Without knowing my mouth suddenly started talking
"Inside the wardrobe?"
"Yes, this is where it took place"
I of course was embrrassed and was not going to ask her that if I could check the wardrobe
so I started questioning her
"Was there anyone else who knew money was here?"
"No"
Well it was of course strange why would a thief suddenly check the wardrobe and not steal anything else except the money
that was inside the wardrobe?
And then a thought came to my mind isn't there supposed to be another guy here? Didn't the detective mention that it was a couple's house?
"Um... Do you know where your partner is?"
"He is out with his friends"
Didn't the detective or Sugo said that it was a couple's matter then why is the other partner out with his friends in a situation like this?
and she started talking
"I told him about the matter but he just said let it go it's just some money and then he went outside I feel something's wrong and he always hangs out with his friends..."
Does she suspect her partner stole the money? But how if they both went outside how possibly could her partner steal it?
I looked around the room trying to possibly find clues and then again a thought came to my mind
why was the detective searching around an area which was not even near where the event took place?
I tried to forget about this and look around the surrounding again, a bookshelf, a small kitchen, a table with a flower pot,
a bed for two... It's also strange that the thief didn't stole any of the books I saw the name of some of the books,
"Before the coffee gets cold", "Tales from the cafe", "The long walk", "The little prince", "How to kill a mocking bird"
Surprisingly this are the books that I want to buy but I don't have enough money to buy them shouldn't these be valuable?
And then I found the answer, it might be risky but this is the only way
"Kosei san right?"
"Yes"
"What if I tell you that you are making a story?"
"What do you mean?"
"Straight to the point you are making this lie, to confront it upon your partner right?"
"The way you expressed how your partner said 'It's just some money' you tried to make it sound rude
to blame it all upon your partner right? You two are actually not a happy couple at all how do I know that?
Most of the people with partners do not tend to hang out with their friends that much-"
"I am home."

A voice of a man in neither a happy tune or a sad tune just a normal tune came as the door opened before she could say anything to the man,
I asked him,
"May I ask you where did you go?"
I think I know where he went as he came back with a plastique bag titled "Yachi's Groceries"
but it was crucial to ask him where he went as it was important for the proof
"What is going on here and who are you?"
I looked at the face of the woman she had a face as If she was shocked to see him come home
"I am with a detective his name is Kento Sugo, your partner asked us to solve a case"
actually it won't be 'asked us' as the woman asked the detective but it does not matters
"What case?"
"She left some money on her wardrobe and it was stolen by someone"
"What?"
"May I asked you where did you came from?"
"A grocery store?"
As I was about to ask him another question Sugo asked him
"You did not hang out with your friends?"
"Uh no? I was about to go to visit my family's house but I forgot a present."
as expected she was lying I then said
"May I look at that book called before the coffee gets cold?" It was suspiciously looking filled up with something between the pages.
"Go ahead."
I went to the book opened the middle page and here it was 12,000 yen
"Did you bought this book?"
"Yes"
"Kosei san you actually never kept any money in the wardrobe right? I suppose you just took out,
12000 yen and hide the money in your partner's book to frame it all on him, also I suppose you expected your partner to
come late as I saw that your face was surprised that he came home early right?"
No matter how you look at it, even an average person would solve a case like this she left so many clues...
The couple went out, forgot to lock the door, wanted to frame it on her husband, but possibly how could she frame it on him? If they both went out?
I checked my watch it was 5:40 PM already I had to go home.
"Cased solved!"
Said Detective Sugo while we were to be separated as we both were going home,
In my mind I said I hope I'll never meet this guy again, I got brought into so much of a hassle.
"Oh I forgot to ask your name"
said Detective Sugo
"Akihiro Kenshi"
"So Kenshi, let's meet again tomorrow at that park!" As he points at a park.
"No." Slipped out of my mouth.
"Okay! Then it's decided we will meet there!"
"Eh?"
