Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Not listening to the elders' advice and suffering the consequences right away

"No money?" Mr. Cao laughed. "Without money, you little wretch should go back to where you came from. Today, I absolutely must demolish this Taoist Temple! I'd like to see what you can do to stop me!"

As he spoke, he turned to his assistant and barked, "Well, aren't you going to start?"

The assistant responded promptly, urging the excavator driver beside him.

Xia Xin's heart raced. "Mr. Cao..."

He wanted to step forward, but Jiangli stopped him with a hand, speaking indifferently, "No need to worry. If I say he can't demolish it, then he can't."

Mr. Cao, hearing this, laughed derisively, "Little girl, if you say that, then I simply must demolish it to show you!"

Under Mr. Cao's prompting, the excavator roared, lifting its arm, and slammed it towards the outer wall of Jiaoyang Temple.

However...

The next second, there was a crisp snap as if something broke.

Immediately after, there was a loud thud, and the excavator's arm smashed to the ground.

Xia Xin and Mr. Cao were both stunned by the scene.

What was this situation...

Jiangli was not surprised by this at all, stating blandly, "I told you before, you can't demolish this temple."

"I refuse to believe this superstition!" Mr. Cao glared at her, clenched his teeth, and called another excavator over, "Demolish it! I must demolish this Taoist Temple today!"

Xia Xin looked worriedly towards Jiangli.

Jiangli's facial expression, however, did not show the slightest change, as if she had full confidence.

Xia Xin could only watch with an uneasy heart.

He then saw another excavator approaching, when suddenly there were several loud bangs—both tracks of the excavator blew out simultaneously!

Damn!

Xia Xin's eyes widened in shock, and he abruptly turned to Jiangli.

Jiangli glanced at Mr. Cao beside her, who was at a loss for words, and said, "As I said before, you can't demolish this temple."

"I refuse to accept this as truth!"

Hearing her words, pride wounded, Mr. Cao glanced out of the corner of his eye at a hammer nearby, grabbed it, and rushed toward the outer wall.

Xia Xin's heartbeat skipped wildly.

Jiangli raised an eyebrow, "Overestimating oneself."

Before her words had faded, Mr. Cao, having reached the outer wall, violently raised the hammer in his hand and brought it down towards the wall.

But the next second, there was a loud bang...

"Ah!!!"

Mr. Cao's scream sounded simultaneously.

Everyone focused and then realized that Mr. Cao had struck his own leg with the hammer.

He clutched at his leg, collapsing to the ground, curling up in excruciating pain.

"Mr. Cao!"

Xia Xin exclaimed, rushing over with Mr. Cao's assistant.

Jiangli walked over at a leisurely pace, glanced at the pale-faced Mr. Cao, and said, "I told you already, you can't demolish this Taoist Temple."

Mr. Cao's face turned pale with pain, his entire body soaked with cold sweat, consumed with only one thought—pain, unbearable pain!

When he heard Jiangli's words, he felt both pain and fear.

The assistant was also petrified with fear.

It was Xia Xin who recovered first, "Quick, we need to get him to a hospital!"

"Oh right!"

The assistant jolted to action, immediately calling for an ambulance.

The rest of the demolition crew was also dumbfounded. After witnessing Mr. Cao's bizarre accident, they all thought that Jiaoyang Temple was strangely cursed. They looked at Jiangli, who was also dressed peculiarly, then turned and ran, with no one daring to demolish the temple anymore.

After sending them away, Xia Xin breathed a sigh of relief, "Finally gone. Ancestral Master... you, you are so powerful. Did you perform some kind of magic to prevent them from demolishing the temple?"

Xia Xin looked at Jiangli with a face full of curiosity.

Jiangli glanced at him dispassionately, "Hasn't your master told you? This temple is connected to my destiny, protected by my virtue. As long as I am alive, nobody can touch this temple."
