Meng Xin Zhi and Zong Ji started discussing history and forgot that they were practicing Tai Chi.
Meng Xin Zhi still had quite a bit of faith in her memory when she asked, puzzled, "Which historical records from the Zhou Dynasty said 'the people take food as their heaven'?"
"It's in the 'Book of Zhou' within the 'Records of the Grand Historian,'" Zong Ji teased.
"Where in the 'Chief of Staff・Book of Zhou' does it say that sentence?"
"In the 'Chief of Staff・Book of Zhou・Hong Fan,' isn't it mentioned that there are eight matters of governance for the country? [First is food, second is goods], with food being of the utmost importance, followed by goods. People take food as their heaven, and goods come next."
Zong Ji paused, then sighed with feeling, "I didn't understand before why you young people always say you are 'foodies.' After some serious research, it turns out that the term 'food and goods' already existed back in the Zhou Dynasty."
