Rake had been gone more than an hour when I felt Cazz's power ripple through the Palace like a sonic wave.
I sucked in and sat up in bed where I'd been trying to sleep and instinctively reached out for him in the bond.

Nervous hope trilled in my belly as I threw the furs back and pushed myself out of the bed, hurrying to the closet for a robe.
I was naked, because a little part of me had hoped that he might come to bed after I was asleep. He'd told me before that the scent of my skin, warmed by furs, was irresistible.
