Chapter 7 : Dangers Of The Dessert Part 3.

With the dim lighting of the honey colored quartz, the journey within the cavernous network is relatively calm, but not quiet, the Blonde Fit Guy and Vinnval engage in a heated conversation with the Old Man and one of the companions of the Bulky Guy.

—At least they are in the rear…

Commented the second companion of the Bulky Guy.

»—Otherwise they might lose their heads.

—They are a little insane to discuss about Weapons or Guns being better, non of them can prove it because fundamentally are thinking on it from different perspectives without taking into consideration the other factors and possible variables.

Explain the Bulky Guy, igniting my curiosity a lot.

—Can you be more especific on the matter, and how should we address you?.

The question couses attentively stares at us and a flat silence, issue which is swiftly slain by the equanimity in the answer of our temporary "Leader".

—"Urlgrend", it is my Complement…

{Complement?, it is not his Name or Last Name?}

Then nonchalantly add the Bulky Guy.

»—And is as i state earlier… , They are not aware or comprehend any of the reasons why the others are defending their postures…

»—For what i understood of their arguments, both parties from their perspectives are correct and wrong on this topic…

{Oh No, this sounds like…}

—You are not going to recite a tantrum on quantum physics, Are you?!.

The panicked tone of my sentence makes him laugh audibly, and fastly he negates shaking his head.

—Hahha, No Korvac, What could give you such impression?, I don't like those scientific type of subjects, the indepth and complexity is too much for my poor little devolved brain, all nutrients goes into this babies.

Said Urlgrend smacking lightly his biceps.

»—However, i am not dumb, in this case, "They are", because the outcome depends on several factors and is biased from their perspective for lack of knowledge, lets take the Presumptuous Blonde Dude and the Arrogant Old Man as examples…

»—The latter said Weapons are better than Guns, he is correct because on the Planet he was born, Guns are underdeveloped, and i quote him, "One little ball of metal can't compete with the robustness of my blade", again, he is not wrong, due to having the dexterity to deflect this spherical type of projectile with extreme easiness, under the prerogative of the Guns on his World have only one round then they need to be recharged, thus, being objectively useless after failing the shoot in a "One on One" situation, this makes the Arrogant Old Man to be correct again, at least from his own clouded perspective though…

»—Let's do the same exercise but with the Presumptuous Blonde Dude perspective, shall we?, He said projectiles are faster than sound on solids, that would mean he is talking most likely about "Railguns" or "Coilguns"…

{Both are conceptual Guns, Not really viable, Unless the civilization of this Individuals manage to bypass the fundamental drawbacks that limit the plausibility in the employment of this kind of Guns!, That would be awesome!, And incredibly dangerous!}

»—I don't have this as a certainty, but even if a "Blade" would be made solely of "Neutronio", the strongest and densest conceivable material, it would be of no use against the sheer firepower of such Guns, the vibrations of each impact would be transferred to the Weapon, killing the User with massive internal injuries if does not explode instantly for the excessive Kinetic Energy of the first strike, either the projectile being intercepted or performing a direct hit on the objective, and that is without counting the tens, hundreds, thousands or millions of rounds that they may have at their disposal depending on their storage technological limitations, ending with the Blonde having an unparallel upper hand, at least from his perspective…

»—There are more things to say, but i don't want everyone to be bored with my semantics, so it is better if any of you manage to understands it with this quote, Weapons, Guns, Tools, Additaments, are meaningless, in the end, the most relevant and variable factor, is no other than "Us" the "Users", improve yourselves until those articles become useless accessories, reaching "Absolution".

{Absolution?, is not about getting absolved or something similar, right?, Why it sounds like something really, really important?}

The final "Phrase" of Urlgrend leaves everyone on the Team thinking to themselves, including those who were discussing in the rear.

*Ahhhh…!*

A sordid scream is heard shortly further away, resounding against the cavern walls and abruptly being interrupted almost as fast as when it starts.

Urlgrend and his companion advance with confidence, accelerating their steps and positioning themselves in the front line.

»—Keep the pace and be alert!.

Orders Urlgrend, a few seconds later we are on a passage, observing a large cave below, place in which is laying the body of a woman over the Hazel stone ground in a pool made of her own red blood.

{What are those?!, They are gigantic!}

My surprise on the scene is focused on the two white worms over the woman, they have a sectionated body of about a meter in length and a girth of 30 to 40 centimeters.

They look gross, glossy and squishy with their slimy meaty appearance, triggering on sight a primitive need to step on them and splatter these disgusting things.

One of the bugs is over the thorax of the dying woman, eating from the neck with its head deep enough to be ingesting the brain of its prey.

Somehow, she is trying to scream but that is only worsening the bleeding, showing it on the excessive paleness of her skin, contrasting substantially with the madness, pain and despair of her eyes.

The other worm is attached on the right leg in the tight, sucking blood and fattening visibly fast, so i attempt to see their Interfaces, starting from this fatty Creature.

—The Sandworm on the thorax is Level 2, the other is Level 1.

I murmur for Myself, but the comment is heard by others, startling the two front liners, who plant their feet on the ground and clearly are struggling, thinking if we should be backing away.

{Is the Level really that relevant?, if so, What about Quality and Category?, I did not deing to give them too much importance, but evidently there is a lot i don't know, it could be wrong not mention this}

»—They are Quality 1 too.

Urlgrend clenches his hands into fists, he is seriously considering what to say, but he doesn't has to, as voices are echoing from below, complaining with annoyance.

—Stupid Newcomers!, Why they are so fearful of some bugs?.

—Don't know, Why?.

—Because they are "Worming" about them.

—Bah!, that was lame…

—I have other, Why the Newcomers are so afraid of their first day?.

—Don't know, Why?.

—Because they don't reach the second…

The group finally is visible from our position, and is conformed by seven males, laughing laudly until they enter in the big cavern, aligning their captured sights on the horrific state of the bleeding woman.

Her head beggins to distort grotesquely, as the Sandworm's tries to rise up due to the sound, sprouting out from the woman's face, splattering around blood, pieces of flesh, her eyeballs, torn bones of the skull including the teeths and even brain matter.

The repulsive scene is enough to make some members of the team gag, trying not to vomit, in my case all i feel is anger.

{This is so similar to the death of my fiancee that my blood is boiling, pumping adrenaline into my body, preparing it to fight}

The stupor of the other Team is quickly replaced by fury and courage, charging at the two creatures with the clear intention of killing them.

Urlgrend orders a similar course of action.

—We can't allow this worms to reach the sand, block the exits and keep them on this cavern.

He and his companions jump from to the cavern below, the other eight integrants of the Team, including me, make use of the path on our side, descending and separating ourselves into pairs to block the five exits we observe, being assisted by a duo from the other Team.

I am impressed, Urlgrend was heard by the other Team and they fastly change their straightforward approach to one more cautious.

Maintaining enough distance with the Sandworms to match our clumsy and slow deployment across the cavern without letting their threatening stance to impede any movement window that allows these two Creatures to escape the perimeter we are going to attempt to defend.

—What are we fighting Urlgrend?.

—Quality 1 Sandworms, with Level 1 and 2, so be…

*Screech*

The sound made by the Level 2 Sandworm is so powerful that reverberates on the walls, causing a weak tremble and provoking us a slight dizziness.

{That doesn't sounds like this creature is trapped, it felt like an invitation to die}
