"Aiden…Aiden…Aiden"
A small voice spoke, barely coherent, as Aiden lay with his head slumped on the table, his mind detached from the world.
"I'm not sure why I have to kill a frail little girl who hasn't killed anyone… I can't do such a thing," he muttered, furious at the absurd task he had been given.
"Listen to yourself," his opponent argued, frustration evident in their voice. "I'm glad you said, 'Who hasn't killed anyone.' She hasn't now, but she will soon… she is a seed that needs to be uprooted before it germinates."
"I can't kill her," Aiden insisted, shaking his head. "I've forfeited that task. I just need three passes, and I'm good."
"Is that why you're calm, because you think you've forfeited it?" the opponent pressed. "Would you kill her if your life was on the line?"
"I… would she be the one aiming to kill me then?" Aiden asked, uncertainty creeping into his voice.
