Chapter 10 - Chapter Ten: One Million

This was Jack's first time entering Lucy's bedroom. It was spacious, with a large bed, a set of sofas, and a desk, providing Lucy with a space to work before going to sleep without the need to rigidly move to the study.

"Take a seat. Since we can't sleep anyway, tell me about your relationship with your ex-girlfriend," Blaine said, curious about what kind of girl could make Jack take on this responsibility.

Unable to resist Blaine's insistence, Jack reluctantly recounted the situation between himself and Lucy.

"Boss, that's pretty much it. What about my leave tomorrow..."

"You don't need to take leave. I don't seem to have much to do tomorrow either, so let's go together. It's not very convenient for a girl to go through this alone, and I can help with things that are inconvenient for a man. It's also a change of pace," Blaine smiled.

"You're going too?" Jack's head suddenly felt heavy. One of the reasons Lucy chose him might be trust, but another reason might be that she didn't want anyone else to know. If Blaine went too, would Lucy be upset?

"What? Is it inappropriate for me to go?"

"It might not be very convenient, Boss. Aren't you busy?" Jack still didn't want Blaine to go and witness the commotion. If Lucy got upset, it would be troublesome. What if his good intentions turned into something bad?

"I'm not busy tomorrow. And besides, if you don't want to go, forget it," Blaine's tone changed instantly.

"Uh, okay, let's leave it at that."

"Alright, I'm going to rest now. You should get some sleep too," Blaine dismissed him.

Jack returned to his room feeling helpless. He thought about calling Lucy, but then he realized if Lucy found out he brought someone else, it might cause a misunderstanding. It was better to leave it.

Thinking about Jack's appearance just now, Blaine smiled faintly. A man who would accompany his pregnant ex-girlfriend to get an abortion couldn't be all bad, especially when the child wasn't even his. With that thought, Blaine's smile deepened.

The next morning, Jack called Lucy early and arranged to meet her at the school gate. He wanted to go early to avoid the crowds and minimize the chances of bumping into acquaintances.

But Blaine still hadn't gotten up. Jack paced downstairs like a trapped animal until Blaine finally finished dressing and came downstairs. She saw Jack's appearance and said, "I told you, you're not the baby's father. Why are you in such a hurry?"

"Even though I'm not the baby's father, I'm the baby's mother's friend. I can't break my promise, right? Boss, let's go. If we wait too long, the hospital will be crowded, and we might have to wait a long time," Jack said.

"Jack, you really don't know how to make use of opportunities. You're crying poor even though you're sitting on a gold mine. Didn't you know that what the boss likes to see is what the employees are happy to provide? Anyway, under Blaine's 'urging,' Jack could only explain briefly about his relationship with Lucy."

"Alright, I've told the doctor everything. Here's the bill and the case file. Can you handle it?" Blaine handed the file and bill to Jack and waited with Lucy in the waiting area.

With connections, money was inevitable. So Jack took the file and went to pay the bill. Shortly after Jack left, Blaine felt the need to use the restroom and excused herself to go.

Just then, a glamorous woman entered the waiting area followed by a young girl, who looked about eighteen, and two burly men. The woman approached Lucy and asked, "Is she the one, son?"

At this moment, Lucy stood up nervously when she saw the young girl.

"Yes, she looks good, and she's a college student. The genes shouldn't be too bad. Are you sure the child in her belly is yours?" The woman asked her son.

"Yes, I'm sure," the young man said, looking very afraid of his mother, not daring to look at her, just nodding.

"Girl, come with me. How can the Dragon family's seed be aborted? Let's go home, have the baby," the woman said to Lucy without hesitation.

"No, I don't want to. I want to go through with it. I still have to go to college," Lucy shouted, but at this moment, Jack and Blaine were not by her side, and she was alone, unable to resist the wealthy woman's pulling. And everyone else just watched, not daring to intervene in this matter.

"Child, whether you go to college or not doesn't matter. You can take a leave of absence. Isn't going to college just to find a good job and earn money? Here, take this one
