After hearing the doctor's explanation, Kevin and Hanna walked out of the room with heavy steps. Both of them were still reeling, trying to process the bitter reality they had just been told. Hanna was still sobbing, while Kevin struggled to keep himself composed, even though his heart was breaking.
"We have to stay strong, Hanna," Kevin said in a raspy voice, holding back his own tears. "Cassie needs us more than ever."
Hanna nodded slowly, but her tears kept flowing. "I know, Kevin… but it's hard to accept all this. Cassie… she's my best friend. How could she forget everything? How could we lose her like this?"
Kevin had no answer for that. There were no words that could erase the pain they felt. All he knew was that Cassie was still there, and they had to fight for her. They stood there, silent in the hospital corridor, trapped in an unspoken sense of despair. Time seemed to freeze, leaving them in a heavy, suffocating stillness.
