Cassie and Lucca finally arrived at a dark intersection, the ground beneath their feet feeling colder and damper than before. They knew Delvin and Isabelle were not far away.
"Lucca, we have to get ready," Cassie said, gripping her dagger tightly. But when she glanced at Lucca, something felt off. His gaze appeared vacant, as if he was seeing something invisible to Cassie.
Suddenly, from the darkness, Isabelle and Delvin emerged. They looked like ghostly shadows, cold smiles etched on their faces.
"Welcome back," Delvin whispered, his voice echoing among the dead trees. Their attack came suddenly. Lucca fought fiercely at first, his movements quick and precise.
However, as the fight went on, Cassie saw Lucca beginning to slow down. That vacant stare returned, and it seemed as if an unheard voice filled his mind.
"Lucca..." Cassie called out anxiously, but he did not respond.
