Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 Before Marrying a Wife, Of Course You Have to...

The man possessed charming eyes, a high and straight nose, and sensual, thin lips. His features were so three-dimensional and perfect as if God had meticulously measured them himself. At that moment, he was clad in white, tall and erect, ambiguously embracing Qian Sisi, his deep gaze tinged with mischief, and a wicked smile curved up at the corner of his mouth. As Sisi clutched at his collar in shock, he spoke leisurely, "Before marrying a wife, of course, one has to check the goods first!"

At those words, Sisi's little face almost burst into red. She stared at the man's smiling eyes in disbelief, breathing heavily through her nostrils, her grip on his collar getting tighter and tighter, until finally... she could only curse in exasperated anger, "You're despicable and shameless!"

The amusement in the man's eyes grew thicker; Sisi's reactions were more interesting than he had anticipated.

Especially today, her transformation made him almost unable to recognize her. He almost suspected that the Xie Family had some other scheme in mind and switched her with someone else.

Luckily, it was still her. Even with the changed image, as stunning as she was, she couldn't change her inherently dazed and slow nature.

The man wanted to tease her, so he tightened the hand that was hooked around her slim waist, running his long, well-proportioned fingers over Sisi's skin and said with a flirtatious lift of his lips, "Are you angry because I checked the goods but didn't let you check mine? Don't worry! Tonight I'll make sure you have your fill of checking!"

"You... you... you..." Faced with the man's shameless teasing, Sisi, though furious and embarrassed, didn't know how to retaliate. She was so anxious that she broke into a sweat, and in her mind... she couldn't help but flash back to the scene when the man had 'checked the goods'...

It was half a month ago, on her bi-monthly trip home.

That night, she finished the computer program she had been designing for days. It was very late, and she hurried home on her little scooter, only to find out that her cell phone had been left in the dormitory. She had to go back and fetch it before heading home. When she reached the small alley near her home, even the streetlights were out, leaving everything pitch-black.

Considering Sisi had been walking this road for twenty years and could find her way home with her eyes closed, she fearlessly hummed a tune and rode on her bike. Just as she was about to reach her doorstep, the wheel ran over a piece of glass, and the tire burst.

Sisi remained calm; before the scooter tossed her off, she took a proactive leap from it. By the moonlight, she looked down at the flat tire for a moment, then decided to push it back and have it repaired the next day.

After taking just a few steps, the usually oblivious Sisi finally sensed something was off behind her!

She turned and saw three figures of different sizes less than a meter away from her, like creatures ready to pounce on her at any moment in the darkness, with no good intentions.

Sisi felt frightened inside but appeared very composed, "Do you need something?"

The fattest of the three was the first to laugh, "Not much. Us brothers are just short on cash, and it's been a long time since we've had company, lonely."

Sisi unconsciously reached for her pocket, thinking of taking out some change to send them away when suddenly a bright light shone over, forcing her to immediately close her eyes.

It was the three men shining a flashlight directly at Sisi's face.

Someone commented, "Got it wrong, she's a subpar good!"

Another added, "Isn't that right!" and shouted at Sisi, "Forget it! Just hand over the money you've got on you!"

Sisi thought to herself that this was precisely what she had in mind. After fishing around in her oversized pants pockets for a while, she finally extracted some crumpled up change, ready to hand it over, when she suddenly understood the robbers' meaning.

Were they despising her looks, so they only wanted money and were no longer lonely?

Sisi watched the three robbers with a conflicted expression, conveying her disappointment in this superficial world.
