Chapter 156 - Chapter 156: Buying Some Insurance from Me

After digging for two hours, Sean said to his companions, "Guys, who's going to inform our wealthy friend? I'm too tired to walk."

The other three looked at the snowmobile forty meters away and shook their heads. "I'm not going. If you want to go, you go. I'm too tired to move."

Another person said, "Sean, you should go since you talked to him earlier. God, if we weren't looking for treasure, I'd consider kidnapping that guy."

"I heard this guy has billions of dollars. If we kidnapped him, we'd be set for life."

Ian, seeing his men getting more outrageous, thought to himself that such talk was inappropriate, especially with Ben Gates and Riley visibly frightened. Even if they had to discuss this, it should be done without outsiders. If they couldn't find the treasure, kidnapping William Devonshire might be an option. However, Ian also thought about his family and business, feeling conflicted.

William was a globally known billionaire and an English nobleman. If word got out, they wouldn't escape the Devonshire family's vengeance. This thought made Ian irritated, and he said to Sean, "Sean, go call our wealthy friend. He might know something. We should go down together."

Sean pretended to be reluctant, weakly saying, "Alright, you're the boss."

Sean Fisher had also thought about kidnapping William, but as a Devonshire native, he had heard secrets about the Devon family since childhood. Despite English nobles being heavily oppressed in terms of power, they were still very wealthy. Especially the grand nobles, who were rumored to have private forces. Given their treasure-hunting relationship, Sean decided not to target William for now.

Sean walked over to William's snowmobile and found him sleeping inside, covered by clothes. He cursed the wealthy in his heart. They were out here working hard while William slept comfortably inside.

Knocking on the door, he woke William up. "Mr. Devonshire, we're done digging. Would you like to take a look?"

After being awakened, William put on his clothes, got out of the snowmobile, and closed the door. He smiled at Sean and said, "I made a call earlier and found out that you guys are a bunch of treasure hunters, looters, and missing persons."

Sean was startled by William's words. He had known that English nobles were not as incompetent as the public thought, especially not the Devonshire family. These families, with over a thousand years of history, were not to be trifled with. In just two hours, William had found out everything about them. Moreover, given William's relaxed demeanor, he must have spent part of that time sleeping. That meant a single phone call was enough to uncover everything.

Sean realized he needed to clarify things with Ian, to avoid provoking William. What Sean didn't know was that William's quick discovery was thanks to Sean's help. William had used his laptop to log into the English Security Committee's database with the password given to him by Chairman Gareth. From there, he had traced Sean Fisher's lineage, leading to Ian's information quickly falling into place.

These guys had records in the database. England hadn't acted against them because Ian's gang hadn't operated much in England, and there was no evidence to arrest them.

William's eyes twinkled as he fabricated a story. "Ever heard of a revenge fund?"

Sean shook his head, confused.

"I have a revenge fund set up with a Swiss national bank. If anything happens to my mother or me, this one billion pound fund will be activated. Anyone involved in our demise, along with their relatives, will become targets. I've already input your details into the darknet, so you better pray I don't meet any mishap. Otherwise, you'll face worldwide pursuit. It'll be quite an interesting scene."

"F**k," Sean cursed. These rich folks had all sorts of tricks up their sleeves. A revenge fund? Who would've thought of that? Who would dare use assassination methods against him now? One billion pounds was definitely the highest bounty ever heard of in their world. Even a ten million pound bounty was rare, let alone one billion. William was a ticking time bomb; taking him out would mean dragging one's entire family down too.

Understanding this, Sean quickly waved his hand. "We won't do anything to you, Mr. Devonshire. We're just treasure hunters, not kidnappers. We wouldn't harm you."

William smiled. "Good to hear. You know about the Continental Hotel?"

Anyone in the underworld knew about the Continental Hotel. Sean nodded.

"Good. My fund is linked with the Continental Hotel. The Swiss national bank finds people, and the Continental Hotel handles the action. Plus, I have hundreds of Continental Hotel coins that I haven't used yet. You know what those are, right?"

Sean nodded again, almost numbly. Knowing about the Continental Hotel, it was impossible not to know about their coins.

William reached into his pocket, pulled out five Continental coins, and tossed them around in his hand, making Sean sweat. Recognizing them as genuine, he grew more anxious.

"It looks like there are five of you. I have five coins here, perfect fit. Want to try the Continental Hotel's service?"

Sean shook his head vigorously, stammering, "Don't joke like that, Mr. Devonshire. We wouldn't harm you. If necessary, I'd even protect you with my life. Just please take care of my family."

William rolled his eyes. In his view, Sean's promise to protect him was nonsense. However, for now, they wouldn't dare harm him. As long as they weren't suicidal, anyone with a family wouldn't risk everything against William.

"Sean, are you interested in making a deal with me?"

Sean, puzzled, asked, "What deal?"

William smiled. "One million pounds for any information you find."

"That's impossible, Mr. Devonshire. The treasure's worth far more than one million pounds. If we find it, each of us could get at least a hundred million pounds. I'm not that stupid."

"Heh, what if you don't find it, Sean? Who can guarantee you'll find the treasure? After all, the Devonshire and Gates families have been searching for centuries. Don't you want to buy some insurance from me? It's one million pounds."

William's words made Sean ponder deeply. William was doing this to ensure he could locate Ian and his men when he decided to silence them.
