Chapter 123 - Chapter 123: Taking Over the White House

On the third Sunday of June in England, almost everyone in the country eagerly waited in front of their televisions. Today was the annual Royal Ascot horse race.

The Royal Ascot horse race was not only a major professional horse racing event but also the most important social event of the British summer. Every year, some particularly interesting events would occur during the race. People even placed bets on what color clothes and hat the Queen of England would wear.

This year, the public was surprised to see William, dressed in a gentleman's morning suit and a black top hat, frequently appearing on television, always close to King Philip and Grand Duke Devon, attending the opening ceremony of the race.

Even more astonishing was how King Philip would occasionally engage William in conversation, laughing heartily at his remarks. During the morning's champion award ceremony, King Philip took William up to the podium, allowing William to present the award to the third-place winner, Grand Duke Devon to the runner-up, and King Philip to the champion.

In the group photo before the midday race break, William stood directly among the crowd of earls and dukes, standing alongside the royal family. This unusual behavior almost drove the entire nation crazy, as it was a direct acknowledgment of William's title as Earl of Oxford.

People were very curious about what William had done to receive such high honors. Paparazzi began following William around the clock, making the manager of the Four Seasons Hotel in London ecstatic.

During the five-day horse race, the Four Seasons Hotel appeared in newspapers and on television more frequently than their own advertisements throughout the year. This significantly elevated William's treatment at the hotel.

Despite being annoyed by the paparazzi's harassment, William had to stay in London because, after reaching an agreement with King Philip that night, he had already received the $500 million worth of benefits.

Except for the ladies' special on the third day, Prince Wilson spent every day accompanying William, claiming to take him to various parties and events to meet people in the circle, though the true purpose was well understood by everyone.

The various etiquettes and rules nearly drove William crazy. He truly didn't understand these noble etiquettes and disliked the sense of constraint.

The only upside was the occasional attractive lady clinging to him at parties. He even had a few workout sessions with an 18-year-old singer named Cheryl, which became the only thing that pleased him during these days.

Finally, on the fifth day, early in the morning, Wilson told William that his grandfather had informed him he was free to do as he pleased, which finally relieved William. It seemed Philip's men had found the Holy Grail in the Louvre.

The Holy Grail in the Louvre had even fooled the four elders of the Hidden Order. William doubted Philip's men could tell if it was real or fake.

Wilson also mentioned that the land purchase approval would be given to William before the end of the year. As for the final issue, Philip simply told William to keep an eye on the news.

The matter finally had a satisfactory conclusion. Using a fake Holy Grail to obtain $500 million in assets and the approval to buy 30,000 acres of land while pushing the danger away was perfect. Philip and Grand Duke Devon wouldn't let the Bright Society, which always sought to destroy the Holy Grail, off the hook. William believed they would even pressure the Bright Church to completely dismantle the organization.

It turned out that the power of the King of England far exceeded that of the Devonshire family. A few days later, William saw on the news that the Bright Church had announced the dissolution of the Bright Society and the retirement of several mid-to-high-level members, which completely reassured him.

With a relaxed mind, William was amused. Henry had passed the hot potato to the Hidden Order, and they, as Henry had hoped, shielded the Devonshire family from disaster. Unfortunately, they dragged William into it, forcing him to find someone with even more power to use as a shield.

Philip proved to be an extremely effective shield, approaching the victim directly and saying, "The item is in my possession. If you want me to keep it a secret, you must first offer benefits."

Haha, from now on, the matter of the Holy Grail would have nothing to do with William, and he could continue his peaceful life.

In a good mood from exchanging a fake item for $500 million in stocks, William went out with Wilson to find fun places in London, covering all expenses and not letting Wilson spend a penny. This made Wilson, who was usually tightly controlled by his mother, very excited.

They enjoyed the nightlife in London for several days until one evening when Prince Charles' bodyguard suddenly found the two, who were hugging several hot girls, and seriously demanded that Wilson return to Kensington immediately. The bewildered duo was escorted out of the nightclub by the bodyguard.

They quickly got into a minivan and sped towards Kensington. In the car, William finally learned the reason: earlier that evening, the White House in the USA had been attacked by dozens of armed bandits. In just 13 minutes, they had stormed the White House, trapping the President in the basement, with his life or death unknown. This put England on high alert immediately.

Upon entering Kensington, William and Wilson faced Princess Diana's displeasure, bowing their heads in apology. They knew they had been too reckless these past few days. The nickname "Nightclub Duo" wasn't given for nothing, and their wild antics had even been reported in the newspapers.

Princess Diana refrained from dragging Wilson away, which was already a great favor to William. Prince Charles had no time to deal with their antics. Upon meeting them, he said directly, "From now on, Wilson, you and your brother Harry are grounded. Pack your things and head to the countryside castle. As for you, William, you'd better go back to Oxford Castle. The situation outside is very tense, with many places in London under covert lockdown. Anything else will have to wait until this period is over. Now, Wilson, go find your brother. You leave with your mother and brother in half an hour."

This time, Wilson obediently followed his father's instructions. After a hug with William, he left with Princess Diana.

William understood what Prince Charles meant. In such special times, personal safety was paramount, and the Holy Grail matter had to be put on hold.

Nodding to Prince Charles, William followed him to the study, where he saw a television broadcasting the most humiliating event in the history of the USA.

Major media outlets worldwide were scrambling to report the battered state of the White House. The lawns outside and the main gate were littered with the bodies of special agents and destroyed vehicles. At around 9 PM, six armed helicopters attempted to forcefully land in the White House but were met with defensive weapons, destroying five of them. One even crashed into the right roof of the White House, causing an explosion that destroyed half of the roof.

Watching this, William regretted exiting the futures market. How much more money could he have made when the stock market opened the next day?

Half an hour later, after seeing Prince Charles' family off, William returned to the Four Seasons Hotel in a government-arranged car, dejectedly falling asleep. Forget it, he thought. Such an event hadn't happened in his previous life. It's better to return to Oxford and enjoy a few peaceful days as a landlord.

The next morning, while William was sleeping soundly, his phone suddenly rang, waking him up. Seeing that it was Black calling, he wondered why.
