Chapter 1 - The Enigmatic Depths (re-write)

As the first rays of dawn crept through the jagged entrance of the cave, Ann blinked against the soft light. The air was cool and smelled of earth and something oddly sweet—like the fragrance of fresh wildflowers. She pushed herself up, groaning slightly as her muscles protested. The last thing she remembered was the glint of her phone screen, the noise of laughter ringing in her ears from a party, and then—darkness. Now, she was nestled on a bed of moss and soft furs, surrounded by rock walls that glistened with moisture and were strangely adorned with ancient paintings.

Her heart raced as she took in her surroundings. Was this a dream? A hallucination? She clutched her head, willing herself to remember the events that led to this bizarre awakening. As far as she could recall, she was living life under makeup lights and camera flashes, strutting her stuff as a bikini model. Yet here she was, in a cave, shrouded in mystery.

Ann swung her legs over the edge of the makeshift bed and stood, shaking off the remnants of sleep. The cave was dimly lit, but she could make out a series of engravings on the walls, intricate designs that hinted at stories long forgotten. As she explored, her fingers traced the contours of a minotaur-like figure—a beast with horns curling majestically, raging and yet dignified.

Her thoughts were interrupted by a low rumble. It echoed through the cave like distant thunder, and she took a step back, heart pounding in her chest. Instinctively, she glanced around for an exit, but she froze as a towering silhouette emerged from the shadows.

Anne swung her legs over the edge of the makeshift bed and got up, shaking off the remnants of sleep. The cave was dimly lit, but she could see the carvings on the walls, intricate patterns that hinted at long-forgotten stories.

Her thoughts were interrupted by a loud noise that echoed through the cave like distant thunder, and she took a step back, her heart pounding in her chest. Instinctively, she glanced around for a way out, but she stopped when she saw a tall figure emerge from the shadows.

"Have you seen Dani's latest photo...? OMG, which one...?

The blue one...

And is it true that you're having an affair with CJ...?

I don't think so. You must have misunderstood...

CJ is bisexual, don't you know?

Ethan, you're crazy...

And I said... Ethan, did you hear about the eclipse coming up next week?

Ethan said, it's the same day we're going to take the photo...

Yeah..."

Anne then stumbled upon Mino. His graceful figure was a silhouette against the darkness. His eyes sparkled like polished agate, staring into hers with an intensity that made her heart race. He sat reading a message from her phone. The blue light shone on his chin, revealing the beard and clean face of the young man with beautiful curved bull horns.

"Who dares disturb the silence of these ancient halls?" Mino's voice boomed, echoing through the chamber.

Mino stepped forward, his powerful frame exuding an air of elegance that belied his fearsome appearance. He was evidently part man and part beast, his horns spiraling from his brow, and his eyes gleamed with a mixture of curiosity and concern. Ann felt a shiver run down her spine. This was far beyond anything she had encountered in her previous life.

""WO.. Bikini… Ethan said.. I feel horny right now"

Ann swallowed hard, her hands trembling at her sides. "I-I mean no harm," she stammered, her voice barely above a whisper. "I seek only passage through this place."

"Who's there?" Ann called out, her voice barely more than a whisper.

Emerging from the shadows, Mino's presence was both formidable and strangely soothing. His eyes, glowing with a mix of wisdom and a hint of playful charm, met hers with an almost reassuring warmth.

"Fear not, wanderer," Mino said, his voice echoing softly in the cavern. "I am Mino, the keeper of these halls. You are safe in my realm."

Fate, it seemed, had orchestrated a curious convergence of paths. The echoes of their meeting reverberated through the cavern, hinting at the mysteries and bonds yet to be discovered.

"Give me back my phone!!"

Anne felt vulnerable and lost. She looked up at Mino, who had now crouched down to meet her eye level. The shadow seemed less threatening as he stood there. His aura was both protective and strangely inviting.

"Here's your picture. Oh, you're making me horny now."

"Give me back my phone."

"No way."

Anne tried to suppress her fear of the stranger and lunged forward to grab her hand.

But she lost her rhythm and was grabbed by the arm.

"I have a mobile phone but yours is very interesting."

"Give it back."

"No... I found it, it's mine."

Mino pulled Anne to kiss her lips.

"I found you, you're mine."

Anne couldn't hold back any longer and raised her hand to slap the stranger's face.

"Why should I trust you?" Ann asked, her voice trembling as she searched his enigmatic face. "How did you find me?"

Mino's expression softened further, his deep voice a soothing melody in the cavern's quiet. "I heard your calls for help," he replied gently. "You have nothing to fear from me."

As Mino offered her a warm blanket, Ann felt a rush of relief. She wrapped herself in it, finding comfort in the simple gesture. "I'm Ann," she said softly, introducing herself.

"Nice to meet you, Ann," Mino said with a warm smile that reached his eyes. "You're welcome to stay here for as long as you need."

As she accepted food and water from Mino, Ann's initial wariness began to dissipate. She opened up to him, sharing her fears and uncertainties. The cave, once a place of dread, now felt like a haven.

"Why are you helping me?" Ann asked, her gaze earnest.

"Because you needed help," Mino replied simply, his sincerity evident in every word.

Ann trembled as she huddled in the dimly lit cave, feeling vulnerable and lost in a world unfamiliar to her. The shadows seemed to dance around her, whispering secrets she couldn't decipher. It was then that Mino, a mysterious figure with an aura of both power and gentleness, appeared before her.

"Who are you?" Ann's voice quivered as she peered up at him, her eyes searching his enigmatic face for answers.

"I mean you no harm," Mino spoke softly, his deep voice cutting through the silence like a soothing melody. "You're safe here."

Ann eyed him warily, unsure of his intentions. "Why should I trust you? How did you find me?"

Kneeling down to her level, Mino's presence softened. "I'm Mino,I found you unconscious in the canyon during the eclipse. You have nothing to fear from me."

Ann held the trot bag and pressed her phone repeatedly. There was no phone signal. When she was about to reach the entrance, Mino walked in to block her from going out. However, Ann insisted on opening the door and went out. She found that outside was a raging storm. Then Ann had to walk back in, covered in dirt and soaking wet.

The cave was damp. He giggled at her crap and told Ann to go take a shower in his bathroom.

As he handed her a warm blanket, Ann felt relieved. She wrapped herself in the blanket, grateful for the small comfort it gave her in the cold weather. He brought her a box of clothes to change into and warm her up.

"What's your name?"

"I'm Ann," she introduced herself, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Nice to meet you, Ann," Mino replied with a reassuring smile. "You're welcome to stay here for as long as you need."

A heavy silence settled between them, broken only by the distant drip of water echoing in the distance. Mino's gaze softened, a flicker of understanding crossing his features.

"You are not the first wanderer to tread these paths," he rumbled, his tone less foreboding. "But you must tread carefully, for danger lurks in the shadows."

Ann nodded, grateful for the warning. "Thank you, honored guardian," she murmured, her fear slowly giving way to a cautious curiosity. "I will be mindful of your words."

Mino inclined his head in acknowledgment, a hint of a smile playing at the corners of his mouth. "Go forth with courage, brave soul," he intoned, his voice a comforting rumble in the oppressive darkness.

With a newfound determination, Ann continued on her journey, the encounter with Mino lingering in her thoughts like a lingering echo in the abyss. Though the path ahead was fraught with uncertainty, she found solace in the unexpected bond forged in the most unsettling of circumstances.

And so, their meeting marked the beginning of an unlikely alliance, a fragile thread connecting two disparate souls in the unrelenting depths of the unknown.

As Ann hesitantly accepted some food and water from Mino, a sense of trust began to blossom between them. She found herself opening up to him, sharing her fears and vulnerabilities in a way she never thought she would.

"Why are you helping me?" Ann asked, her gaze searching his dark eyes for any hint of deceit.

"Because you needed help," Mino replied simply, his expression sincere and unwavering.
